Background

Mark was raised on Earth by his human mother, Debbie, while his father Nolan concealed his Viltrumite background. Nolan later tried to recruit Mark into the Viltrumite Empire and conquer Earth; Mark refused, and the two fought on Thraxa 155.

After fighting Doctor Octopus, Mark was pulled through a portal into another universe by Angstrom. There, he encountered Spider-Man and Sparta. Sparta's declaration that he came from the Viltrumite Empire immediately put Mark on guard because of Nolan's past 154.

Mark initially blamed himself for Angstrom's transformation, believing that he had “ruined everything.” Sparta urged him to stop dwelling on regret and focus on what he could do next 155. When a portal opened, Mark and Sparta returned to Mark's world, where they found Angstrom threatening Debbie and Oliver; Sparta killed Angstrom before he could harm them 156 157.
