Background / History

Naruto graduates from the Ninja Academy as its lowest-ranked student and is assigned to Team 7 alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. He immediately protests the placement because of his hostility toward Sasuke, while Iruka bluntly identifies him as last in every category. 14

Hyuga Tian Ge becomes Team 7's jonin leader and subjects Naruto to severe training rather than ordinary D-rank work. Tian Ge resolves Naruto's chakra-control problem by confronting the Nine-Tails directly and forcing it to withdraw the chakra disrupting Naruto's control. 19

The team's early missions expose Naruto to repeated killing and push him into increasingly dangerous tailed states. During their first extermination mission, he initially freezes at the sight of blood, then enters a one-tailed berserk state and earns acknowledgment from Sasuke and Sakura after fighting beside them. 22

Extermination Missions and Bounty Trials
