Background

Sasuke is the last survivor of the Uchiha clan and is driven by the goal of killing his older brother, Itachi, who destroyed their clan. At the Academy, he excels in practical performance and looks down on Naruto, whom he considers an inferior teammate. 14 16

His perspective on strength changes after recognizing Tian Ge as the man who had repeatedly crushed Itachi in a single move. Rather than resent Tian Ge’s dismissal of his current ability, Sasuke asks to be taught and accepts that the training may kill him. 16 17

Under Tian Ge’s instruction, Sasuke develops from an elite Academy graduate into a battle-hardened genin. He undertakes extermination and bounty missions, repeatedly risks his life against stronger opponents, and comes to rely on Naruto and Sakura as comrades rather than burdens. 22 27 30

Personality

Initially, Sasuke is proud, cold, and openly contemptuous of Naruto. His strongest motivation is revenge, and he is willing to accept any hardship—or death itself—if it brings him closer to killing Itachi. 14 17
