Background & History

Ye Qing visited Medicine King Pavilion’s Courtyard One to identify capable alchemists, allowing successful disciples to bypass the normal alchemist examination. Jiang Lu’s refusal to demonstrate her own abilities drew his attention; after confronting her, he personally examined her pulse and became suspicious of her unusual Spiritual Roots 33.

He offered Jiang Lu discipleship, promising protection, resources, and his complete inheritance. After she agreed, they performed a temporary master-disciple recognition rite before the pavilion patriarch’s memorial tablet; the Heavenly Dao acknowledged their bond through a golden thread connecting their brows 35. Ye Qing subsequently tested her with a spirit-testing stone, identified her Chaos Body and Chaos Spirit Roots, and explained their immense cultivation efficiency and equally immense spiritual-energy requirements 35.
