"This fish was really huge!"

Using the moonlight, Uchiha Gen shamelessly stood on the river with Chakra to "catch" fish.

Whenever a curious fish swam close, he immediately snatched it into his hand with Lightning Flash speed.

Looking at the nearly one-meter-long fish, he sighed. As expected of unspoiled nature.

He built a fire beside the waterfall, scraped off the scales and other impurities with a stone, then sat nearby and waited for the fish to cook.

"I forgot to get some seasoning. Oh well, I'll make do this time."

Plain fish was not bad either. As long as it was grilled well, it could still be crispy outside and tender within.

After finishing the fish, it was already getting late. He glanced at the waterfall and, on a whim, activated his Sharingan.

He slowly walked to the riverbank. Though it was dark now, the Sharingan's exceptional vision made his reflection perfectly clear.

"Two-Tomoe! Awesome!"

But when he remembered that he was already twelve years old, his excitement gradually subsided.

"Only two tomoe. What trash. How did the Sharingan evolve again?"

Uchiha Gen squatted by the river and pondered slowly. In his previous life, there had been plenty of arguments about this topic on forums and fanfiction chat groups.

Some said that stimulation alone could awaken the eyes, while others claimed that a large amount of Yin-nature Chakra was necessary. Everyone had their own theories and reasoning.

"The Sharingan reflects one's state of mind, so it must be connected to the thoughts in the brain. But power can't appear out of nowhere. The conditions for evolving tomoe must also be related to one's own strength."

He mentally reviewed all the characters he had seen awaken their eyes in Naruto and gained a general understanding of the Sharingan.

"The genjutsu I know are all low-level trash. I'll have to make up for that later."

As an Uchiha, he knew so few genjutsu. It seemed this body had not liked reading much.

Then again, according to his memories, he had gone to war at seven or eight. Even if he had wanted to study, he would not have had much time.

After finishing his thoughts, he stretched lazily.

It was late. Time to go back and sleep.

The night moon hung high overhead. Uchiha Gen's body clock told him it was probably just past ten.

As he walked back toward the Clan Grounds, the sound of the breeze rustling through leaves and branches felt strangely eerie.

Uchiha Gen's steps slowed more and more, while the fingers hidden in his sleeves twitched uneasily.

Thump, thump, thump!

His heartbeat roared louder inside him like an engine, and the Sharingan activated in response to the unfamiliar aura of danger.

Danger!!

Boom!

The road beneath Uchiha Gen suddenly exploded! Rubble flew everywhere as kunai shot in from all directions and plunged into the smoke!

"Did we get him?"

An adult man's voice came from the nearby woods. Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Four or five dark figures leaped to where Uchiha Gen had been, only to find a large crater on the ground without even a trace of blood.

"Not good!!"

Before those ninjas could leap away, however, the ground suddenly sank and trapped their feet.

A scorching presence followed closely behind. When they turned around, their pupils instantly contracted to pinpoints.

A fireball several meters wide was already right in front of them!!

When?!

Boom!!

Another massive explosion rang out, no weaker than the first.

More than ten minutes later, a figure finally appeared at the scene. It was Uchiha Gen.

He waved away the smoke and examined the result. The four or five unidentified ninjas were now mangled beyond recognition, with not a single intact part on their bodies. The smell of cooked meat had even begun to rise from them.

"Heh, who said Fire Release couldn't kill people? It worked pretty well, didn't it?"

Poof!

Uchiha Gen exploded into smoke, and another Uchiha Gen leaped out of the forest. The one from before had merely been a clone.

"As expected of an Uchiha who's been to war. His danger sense is really sharp."

Uchiha Gen was still shaken. What had happened just now had been entirely his body's instinctive response; only after doing everything did he fully realize what had occurred.

He briefly cleaned up the remains and only found a few intact kunai.

"They weren't strong, just a few inexperienced Chunin. So poor!"

Without taking time to rest, he leaped onto a tree trunk. Chakra covered his legs, and every jump carried him more than ten meters.

"Madara and Izuna are both out. Hopefully there aren't too many attacking ninjas."

Uchiha Gen's mind was exceptionally clear, and he had already analyzed the situation.

Those unknown ninjas could not have been specifically lying in wait for him. They must have been stationed outside as sentries or part of the rear guard, and he had simply happened to run into them.

Uchiha Gen raced onward. As he drew closer and closer to the Uchiha Clan Grounds, the smell of blood in the air grew thicker, and the sounds of fighting and killing reached his ears.

Because the Uchiha Clan Grounds stood at the mouth of a valley with nothing nearby to conceal him, he was spotted immediately.

"There's another one who slipped through!"

"He has a wound on his head! He's not reinforcements!"

"Finish him quickly!!"

Thud, thud, thud!

Uchiha Gen stared with his Sharingan and tilted his head. Several white bone segments whistled past him.

"Camellia Dance!!"

Clang!!

Kunai collided with bone, producing a sound like steel striking steel.

"Kaguya! Why are you attacking my Uchiha?"

"Hmph! Brat, I can't be bothered wasting words on you."

A white-haired ninja called out, and the surrounding Kaguya ninjas thrust Bone Spikes from their palms as they charged at Uchiha Gen.

"Fire Release! Phoenix Flower Fire!"

Uchiha Gen rapidly formed hand seals with both hands and unleashed the ninjutsu in less than three seconds.

More than a dozen small fireballs, like tracking missiles, whistled toward them. The Kaguya ninjas hurriedly raised their Bone Spikes to block.

Though Phoenix Flower Fire was not particularly lethal, it was fairly effective at disrupting vision.

When the Kaguya ninjas looked up again, Uchiha Gen had indeed vanished.

"Damn it, where did he go?!"

In a flash, Uchiha Gen was already inside the Uchiha Clan Land. He rapidly darted between the surrounding buildings. Right now, he had to check on the safety of his clansmen as quickly as possible.

"Damn it, why would the Kaguya attack the Uchiha?"

He could not understand it at all. Hadn't his second brother said they had just taught them a lesson before?

At this moment, aside from women and children, the Uchiha headquarters was filled with the wounded. The combat strength that could be organized was hardly worth mentioning. Although the clan head had left some clansmen behind in case of emergencies, still...

"There's another Uchiha here!"

"Kill him!"

Tch! Uchiha Gen's expression darkened. To avoid being discovered, he had not chosen to travel over the rooftops, but he had moved too quickly and was still spotted.

"Ten-Finger Bullet!"

"Flower-Flaring Dance!"

Uchiha Gen was now very close to the area where the injured were housed. Flames blazed within, and the screams of his clansmen continuously rang out.

"Damn it! You brought this on yourselves!"

With a flick of his wrist, two kunai were already in his hands. Uchiha Gen was anxious, but he understood that acting impulsively would not solve anything now.

Bang!

Clang!

Buildings surrounded them, making it difficult for ninjutsu to display its full effect. The Kaguya came at him in groups of three or five. Though Uchiha Gen was skilled in taijutsu and had been strengthened by Chakra, he could not withstand being ganged up on by so many people.

Before long, several holes had appeared in his body, but the Kaguya Clan had not fared well either, paying the price of seven or eight of their own clansmen.
