The Storm Passed

"They're back, they're back! How did it go?" Peter bounced around the two of them, his face full of worry and curiosity. Questions poured out of him. "How did you win the case? How did those guys react? Did Jameson's face turn green?"

Gwen had spoken to Lin Hai on the phone, but he had only given her a rough account. She didn't know the details.

The four of them gathered around the living room sofa. Lin Hai took the lead, with Harry filling in the gaps, as they told the two who had stayed behind everything that had happened at the New York State Supreme Court.

"We met up with Matt this morning and went into the courtroom," Lin Hai began. "The other side was so cocky at first, you'd think they were there to accept an award."

Harry cut in with a hint of mockery. "Too bad their good mood didn't last. As soon as the representatives from the three major corporations, including Osborn, showed up, the atmosphere on their side changed.

"I was sitting in the gallery, so I could see their faces clearly. They went from rosy to pale, then started breaking out in cold sweats. It was fascinating. What was that performance we saw when we went to Huaxia? Right! Face-changing! It's a shame they didn't take it up."

Peter's eyes lit up. "Hahaha! I can picture it! I wish I'd been there! What happened next? Did Matt tear them apart once the hearing started?"

"He did more than that." Lin Hai smiled, his voice full of admiration for Matt. "He didn't give them a single opening. His arguments were clear and airtight, and every sentence struck at a weakness.
