This Is Your Reward

The two of them finally stopped walking as the sunset on the horizon gradually took on magnificent colors.

"We should head back." Lin Hai glanced at the sky and spoke to Gwen.

Gwen nodded, and the two of them followed the path they had taken back to Ta Lo Village, heading straight to Old Chen's home. When Old Chen saw them return, a kindly smile appeared on his face. "Young friend Lin, are you heading back?"

"Yes, Old Chen," Lin Hai replied. "It's getting late."

"Alright, then this old man won't keep you any longer." Old Chen waved his hand. "Will you still be using magic to return?"

Lin Hai nodded, walked to a more open area nearby, and opened a Portal home.

Old Chen knew of Kamar-Taj's existence and had even met Kamar-Taj's sorcerers and seen their spells long ago, so he showed no surprise at Lin Hai opening a Portal.

He merely narrowed his eyes slightly and studied it with great interest, unable to stop himself from clicking his tongue in admiration. "Wonderful, truly wonderful... Kamar-Taj's spatial magic is unbelievable no matter how many times I see it."

Lin Hai and Gwen bade Old Chen farewell once more, then stepped through the Portal together, their figures vanishing into the golden glow.

Old Chen watched the Portal slowly close, the smile still lingering on his face as he murmured to himself, "Being young is wonderful... When I was young..."

After leaving Ta Lo, Lin Hai and Gwen returned directly home through that small alley. The scent of cooking drifted out from the kitchen, and Lin Hai's mother came out when she heard the door open.

"You're back! Did you have fun?" Lin Hai's mother briskly walked over while wiping her hands on her apron, then naturally took Gwen's hand.
