After hearing Lin Hai out, Hamil paused to look at the unconscious Yinsen on his shoulder, then nodded. "I understand. In that case, come with me."
With that, he headed out of the library. Lin Hai hoisted Yinsen back onto his shoulder and followed Hamil.
The two of them... or rather, the three of them eventually reached a secluded room. Its furnishings were simple, and light streamed through stained-glass windows high above, casting mottled patterns across the floor.
The place looked familiar to Lin Hai. He was fairly sure he had been here the last time the Ancient One had summoned him urgently and assigned him the Demon God Pioneer mission.
The only thing in the room that caught his eye was a circular platform in the center, about waist-high and polished from some kind of stone. Countless fine, ancient, mysterious runes covered its surface.
Hamil stopped beside the platform and motioned for Lin Hai to set Yinsen down for the moment. Lin Hai carefully propped him against the wall.
Hamil raised both hands and formed a spell seal before his chest. Golden light, the mark of Vishanti magic, glowed at his fingertips.
"Hum..."
The platform stirred from its slumber. As Hamil poured magic into it, the dormant runes gradually lit up gold. Light flowed along their carved lines and spread until it covered the entire surface, forming an intricate, dazzling array.
A few breaths later, the array stabilized. Light gathered in the air above the platform and took the shape of the Ancient One. She wore the same apricot-yellow robes, her expression as still as ever.
She looked at Hamil. "Master Hamil, did you call for me? Is all well at Kamar-Taj?"
