The town was not far from where the Destroyer had appeared. Even standing at the entrance of the workshop, Lin Hai, Thor, and the others could see the fiery explosions bursting in the distance.
Lin Hai looked in that direction. Though he knew Coulson would most likely be fine, he still could not help worrying for him. Appreciation was appreciation, but as someone who still could not face Mephisto directly, he had no intention of going to hell to fish out Coulson's soul if he died.
Thor, Sif, and the other Asgardians had also seen the explosion and could more or less guess what they would be facing next. Sif and the other three had just used the Bifrost to travel to Earth, and not long afterward, the Bifrost activated again. A visible explosion then erupted at its destination.
Combined with Loki's deception of Thor, the answer was practically handed to them. Even if Thor was not good at thinking, he knew his dear brother had sent someone after him.
Thor turned to look at the people beside him. His gaze swept from Sif to Fandral, from Fandral to Volstagg, from Volstagg to Hogun, before finally landing on Lin Hai's group of four.
"Friends, I have lost my divine power. I am just an ordinary man now. I would only get in your way here, perhaps even drag you down. But I can help the residents evacuate to safety, so I need some time."
Sif met his eyes and nodded. Volstagg slung his double-bladed battle axe over his shoulder and grinned. Hogun was not a man of many words, but his silence itself was an answer.
Fandral replied, "We'll buy you time!"
