"Did the Black Spirit King notice me?"
Miles studied Cable without betraying anything. "Can you be more specific?"
"Twenty-eight hours ago, the Dusk Legion began a series of troop movements along the Nevada–California border. The Cult also received a message of the highest priority: find 'the other Miles Zero' and bring him back to Daskoro alive."
"A message?" Miles caught the oddity at once. "The Cult has its own way of sending messages?"
"They can receive brief messages by praying to Feirotus. Nothing complicated, but it's usually enough," Cable replied.
"Then how do you know?" Miles pressed. "Are you with the Cult?"
"No. Our official name is the Free Mutants United Front. Or you can call us the Resistance Army, like everyone else does. We exist to oppose the Black Spirit King and Vespera."
Cable shook his head. "I know because we have the Think Tank. Like you, he is a 'Child of God' of Feirotus."
"A Child of God?"
Miles froze. All he knew was that, since his arrival in this world, the Cult's lunatics had called him a Child of God.
And now Cable was telling him there was another "Child of God" in this world?
"I know you must have a lot of questions, but we don't have time to go through them all," Cable continued. "According to the Think Tank's prediction, the Dusk Legion will reach Greymalkin in twenty hours."
"They know I'm here?" Miles frowned.
"Quentin Quire has never been much good at keeping secrets," Cable answered.
"How strong is the Dusk Legion? Will the Black Spirit King show up?" Miles asked.
"The Black Spirit King rarely leaves Vespera himself. According to our intelligence, this operation is led by Exodus. He's the marshal of Vespera's legions and the high priest of the Cult of Feirotus.
