Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Delta-level psychic 33 His powers stagnated at Level Two after severe brain trauma inflicted at Alkali Laboratory; his early human mind control could be resisted by strong-willed targets.
Threshold of Beta-level 40 Contact with the Phoenix Force repaired or unlocked damaged potential, making Memory Reading substantially more controllable.
Alpha-level psychic 179 He forcibly reached Alpha level by the end of Volume Two, though his foundation was initially unstable.
Elite Alpha-level psychic 179 A year of accumulation, White Phoenix fusion, and Mind Stone stimulation increased his psychic capacity to more than five times its earlier level.
Cerebro-amplified Omega-level reach 170 175 Cerebro expanded his range to a global scale, allowing him to seize control of every Ultron robot on Earth; Shadow King noted this amplification lacked the qualitative transformation of a natural Omega-level psychic.

Background

Miles was created in Alkali Laboratory as part of a genetic weapons program. Derived from Charles Xavier’s genes, he and other mutant children were raised, trained, and conditioned as weapons rather than treated as people. Severe experimentation and brain trauma damaged his psychic growth, leaving him physically impaired and initially limited to Delta-level telepathy. 33 305

He escaped the laboratory with the aid of a nurse and other mutants. During the ensuing struggle for survival, Miles became accustomed to violence, coercion, and treating morality as secondary to staying alive. 305

After joining Charles Xavier, Logan, Laura, Caliban, and their companions, Miles gradually came to view them as family. Charles became both his mentor and moral restraint, repeatedly pushing him to value trust, patience, and companionship over control. 4 6 29

Miles’s encounter with Madeleine Pryor and the Phoenix Force began restoring his suppressed potential. His growing power, however, also intensified his trauma, especially his hatred for Alkali Laboratory and Dr. Zander Rice. 33 48

Personality

Miles is calculating, sarcastic, and intensely curious about technology. He commonly treats battles, enemies, and unfamiliar systems as problems to be studied, often prioritizing information or useful materials alongside victory. 67 185 293

His upbringing made mind control and manipulation feel practical rather than inherently wrong. He has altered memories, dominated enemies, and coerced allies when he believed urgency justified it; Susan Storm specifically challenges him over the fear and loss of autonomy this causes. 87 106 305

Despite this detachment, Miles repeatedly protects civilians, friends, and vulnerable mutants at significant personal risk. His decision to save Charles over killing Zander, his refusal to weaponize Madeleine, and his willingness to stand against impossible threats show that loyalty remains central to his choices. 6 48 149

He fears becoming like his alternate counterparts—particularly Black Spirit King—and increasingly recognizes that sincerity, ordinary relationships, and a sense of home are necessary to preserve his identity. 106 176 295 307

Abilities & Skills

Telepathy and Mind Control

Miles can read, suppress, alter, and dominate minds, as well as communicate telepathically across distance.

  • Reads memories and extracts information through mental invasion. 40 285
  • Alters or erases memories to preserve secrecy. 67 87 90
  • Controls individuals and groups, including armed soldiers, mutants, and alien combatants. 6 58 98 215
  • Creates psychic barriers, shields, blasts, and defensive constructs. 106 175 185
  • His early human mind control was weaker than Charles Xavier’s and could be resisted by strong wills. 28 29
  • Cerebro temporarily expanded his perception to billions of minds and his electronic influence across the entire planet. 170

Electronic Signal Manipulation

Miles’s most natural psychic talent is manipulating electronic signals, which he finds simpler and more efficient than controlling human thoughts. 6

  • Disables prosthetics, weapons, communications, surveillance systems, and electrical infrastructure. 4 6
  • Hijacks military bases, drones, tanks, missiles, and automated weapons. 26 67
  • Creates or alters digital identities, records, and databases. 66 91
  • Infiltrates alien and advanced technological systems by manipulating their signal flow. 202 285
  • Can remotely extract data from powered devices within his psychic range, even without a network connection. 90
  • Cannot reliably control unfamiliar quantum technology or some alien systems that do not depend primarily on conventional electronic signals. 87 185

Telekinesis and Psionic Shaping

Miles later awakened genuine telekinesis, supplementing earlier temporary uses of Phoenix-derived power. 178

  • Flies, restrains targets, deflects attacks, and reinforces structures with telekinetic force. 147 185 293
  • Creates shields, blades, armor, weapons, and large-scale psionic constructs. 95 138 185
  • Uses Telekinetic Storm to devastate groups of enemies and mechanical forces. 185
  • Uses Psychic Traversal to open spatial gateways for travel or tactical repositioning. 243 285
  • Uses Psychic Annihilation to create spatial rifts capable of absorbing or redirecting attacks. 285

Phoenix Brand and Phoenix Force

Miles possesses a connection to the Phoenix Force, strengthened through Madeleine and the Phoenix Brand.

  • Can invoke Phoenix energy for destructive attacks, psychic amplification, and emergency telekinesis. 70 74 98
  • Manifested the Phoenix Avatar to injure Marcus when ordinary telepathy failed. 204
  • Madeleine’s Phoenix Brand has intervened through Miles during critical battles. 147
  • Phoenix power carries severe strain and is not a stable replacement for his own abilities. 70 204

Psionic Magic

Miles developed a form of magic powered by psychic ability rather than conventional borrowed mystical energy.

  • Uses the Spectrum Field through the Prism Staff to create energy shields. 98
  • Uses Spectrum Mirage to create illusionary mazes that distort vision and spatial perception. 98
  • Donated his developing theories on Psionic Magic to Kamar-Taj so others could study them. 127
  • The Prism Staff’s evil consciousness can erode his sanity when used repeatedly. 98

Personality Simulation

Miles can temporarily generate or invoke specialized personalities to gain their skills and traits.

  • Simulates Zombie Hawkeye to gain Clint Barton’s combat experience and precision. 142
  • Can invoke Legion/David Haller, granting overwhelming but dangerous psychic capabilities. 168 173
  • Legion’s emergence risks overwhelming Miles’s original self through uncontrolled personality splitting. 174
  • Mister Sinister and Proteus also exist as fused personalities within his mental world. 168 174

Scientific and Engineering Expertise

Miles is an exceptional researcher who merges mutant genetics, AI, alien technology, psychic systems, magic, and advanced weapons design.

  • Proposed advanced solutions to nuclear-fusion plasma turbulence during his first discussion with Otto Octavius. 66
  • Developed Secondary Adamantium, enhancement serum research, drones, advanced weapons, and the Psypoint Suit line. 67
  • Created Solution Number Twelve, a vitality-restoring treatment derived from genetic research. 100
  • Oversees genetic fusion research through Essex Biotech Group’s Goddess of Dawn project. 160
  • Incorporates Chitauri, Eternal, Stark, Kang, and alien technologies into his own systems. 67 160 283
