This Body Is Insanely Useful!

Walking back with Steve ahead of him, Chu Hang felt like he had become a completely different person.

Just moments ago, he had still been a "glass-cannon tank" relying on the Healing Factor to barely hang on, with physical abilities only a little better than an ordinary person's. But now, he felt explosive power coursing through every inch of his body.

How could he describe this feeling? It was like riding a beat-up bicycle that rattled everywhere except the bell, pedaling once and needing to rest three times. Now, he had traded it for a fully fueled Harley. As long as he dared to twist the throttle, it would dare to send him flying.

He could clearly feel that his breathing had become deep and powerful. Every breath felt as though he were swallowing the cold air around him whole, drawing it into his lungs and turning it into waves of heat that washed through his limbs and bones. He had been running through the snow and fallen into an icy river; his body had long since gone stiff with cold. Yet now, he only felt warm all over, as if he were carrying a little furnace inside him.

His eyes could see farther and more clearly too. Before, his vision had been no better than an ordinary person's. Now, he could clearly see several translucent icicles hanging from the branches of a pine tree a hundred meters away. He could even see the tiny reflections of himself and Steve in the ice.

His ears were the same. He could hear the rustling of wind through the treetops, the soft swish of snow sliding down distant slopes. He could even make out Dugan's booming voice barking orders back with the group, along with Logan's impatient low growl.

Damn, he was practically a living radar!

Chu Hang was over the moon. The Healing Factor and the Super-Soldier Serum were a match made in heaven. One took the hits and restored health; the other provided damage and mobility. He had finally gone from a lowly soldier barely clinging to life to a true super soldier.

"How do you feel?" Steve, walking ahead of him, seemed to have noticed the change in his mood and turned back to ask.

"I feel... great." Chu Hang grinned, flashing a row of white teeth. "I feel like I could punch a cow to death."

Steve smiled too, a heartfelt smile tinged with relief. He nodded. "Get used to it. That strength will become your most dependable companion."

The two said nothing more and quickly returned to where the team was resting.

The Howling Commandos had already done a simple sweep of the battlefield, collecting all usable weapons and ammunition. Gabe's wounds had also been treated again. Dugan had somehow found several wooden planks and used military straps to make him a crude stretcher, but the leg injured by the bear trap was still a bloody mess. His condition was far from optimistic.

When Steve and Chu Hang returned, everyone's attention focused on them.

"Captain, how is it?" Dugan stepped forward. He glanced at Steve, then at Chu Hang behind him, who looked as though nothing had happened, his eyes full of astonishment.

"The way ahead is safe. We need to get out of here as soon as possible." Steve's expression turned serious again. "Gabe's injury can't wait any longer. Our top priority is finding a safe place where he can receive treatment."

The atmosphere in the group immediately grew somewhat heavy.

They were deep behind enemy lines, surrounded by Hydra soldiers. Finding an absolutely safe place would not be easy. Besides, they had a severely wounded man with them who could die at any time.

"Captain, I think we should go straight to the factory."

At that moment, Chu Hang suddenly spoke up.

Everyone's eyes turned toward him at once.

Steve looked at him with some surprise as well. "Chu Hang? What do you mean?"

"I mean, the most dangerous place is often the safest place." The Super-Soldier Serum seemed to have strengthened Chu Hang's mind as well, making his thoughts clearer than ever. He pointed toward the brightly lit area in the distance. "Hydra will definitely never expect that not only did we not run away, but that we'd actually walk right into their doorstep. Their main force was just lured away by you. The factory's internal defenses must be weaker than ever right now."

He paused, then continued, "Besides, there has to be an infirmary in the factory. As long as we can sneak in, we can save Gabe. After saving him, we can blow up the factory while we're at it and rescue our captured brothers. That kills three birds with one stone. It's better than wandering around this frozen wasteland like headless flies."

Chu Hang's words were logical, well-founded, and clearly organized.

After hearing him out, the team members all felt that it made sense.

Dugan had a cigar clenched between his teeth. After pondering it for a long while, he nodded. "The kid's right. With Gabe in tow, we can't get far. Instead of getting chased down like rabbits by Hydra's pursuers, we might as well give them one hell of a fight."

Steve looked at Chu Hang, approval flickering in his eyes. He realized that Chu Hang had not only changed physically; his judgment and courage had also grown astonishingly. That daring resolve to strike back in desperate circumstances was precisely the quality an outstanding commander needed.

"Good, we'll do it!" Steve decided immediately. "Our target is the Hydra Factory!"

With the decision made, the team moved at once.

Gabe was placed on the makeshift stretcher, carried by two strong team members. Chu Hang had wanted to help too. He felt like he had endless strength now. Forget carrying a stretcher—even if he had to sling Gabe over his shoulder and run, he probably would not even be out of breath.

But Dugan vetoed his suggestion.

"You and the captain are the strongest firepower in our team. You need to handle point and rear guard, ready for any unexpected situation." Dugan patted him on the shoulder, then stuffed most of the captured ammunition and grenades into his backpack without giving him a chance to argue.

The backpack was heavy, probably weighing sixty or seventy pounds. Before, Chu Hang would have been panting after carrying that thing for just a few steps. But now, he casually slung it over his shoulder. It felt like carrying a schoolbag—light as a feather, with no weight to it at all.

"This guy..."

Logan, standing nearby, watched Chu Hang's effortless manner and let out a low rumble from his throat. His beast-like instincts once again told him that this Eastern kid had completely turned into a different kind of "monster."

The team set off again.

Steve walked at the very front, shield in hand, like a drawn sword cutting open a path for the group.

Chu Hang, meanwhile, volunteered to take the very back of the formation and cover their rear.

With heavy gear on his back and a captured MP40 submachine gun in hand, he followed lightly behind the group. The overwhelming stamina brought by the Super-Soldier Serum left him without the slightest trace of fatigue. He even had the leisure to carefully observe the surroundings as he walked.

At this moment, his senses proved immensely useful.

"Wait!"

As they passed through a dense pine forest, Chu Hang suddenly raised a hand and called out in a low voice.

The entire team stopped instantly. Everyone raised their weapons warily and looked around.

"What is it?" Steve, at the front, turned back and asked.

"Up ahead, about three hundred meters away, on the other side of the ridge, there's a patrol approaching." Chu Hang closed his eyes and listened carefully. "There aren't many of them, maybe five or six. They're moving slowly. They sound relaxed."

The team members were all stunned.

Three hundred meters away? On the other side of a ridge? How the hell could he hear that?

Dugan even pressed his ear to the ground and listened for a long time, but heard nothing but the wind. He looked at Chu Hang skeptically. "Kid, are you sure you heard right? Why can't I hear a damn thing?"

Only Steve showed no doubt after hearing Chu Hang's words. His own hearing had also been greatly enhanced. Though he could not hear as clearly as Chu Hang, he had vaguely sensed that something was off.

He immediately made his decision. "Everyone, take cover where you are! Don't make a sound!"

Though the team members had their doubts, they still obeyed their captain's orders without question. Everyone immediately spread out, using the nearby trees and rocks to quickly conceal themselves.

Chu Hang also found a thick pine tree, leaned behind it, and held his breath.

Time passed second by second.

After roughly three or four minutes, just as some of the team members were beginning to wonder whether Chu Hang had made a mistake, a jumble of footsteps and German conversation finally drifted over from behind the ridge.

Then, a six-man Hydra patrol came down from the ridge, grumbling and cursing, exactly as Chu Hang had said.

In that instant, every gaze directed at Chu Hang changed.

If his earlier resurrection had left them shocked and incredulous, then this warning ability, like a man with ears that could hear the wind from a thousand miles away, gave them something far more tangible: security and awe.

On the battlefield, a scout who could detect enemies in advance was worth a fortune!

The patrol had no idea it had just passed beside Death's scythe. Only after they had lazily wandered off did Steve gesture for the team to continue onward.

As he passed Chu Hang, Steve gave him a deep look and said quietly, "Nicely done."

Chu Hang smiled but said nothing.

He knew that, from this moment on, he had truly become part of this legendary team.

And this enhanced body of his had only just begun to reveal its terrifying value.
