Chu Hang returned to the top-floor office of Stark Tower. Night had fallen.
He poured himself a glass of water and stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows. New York lay beneath his feet, its lights like a flowing river.
Quiet. He did not like this kind of quiet.
He had gone to New Mexico and gotten into a fight, loosening up his muscles and bones, but that only made him feel more bored. Thor had returned to Asgard, Loki had fallen into the abyss of space, and Earth suddenly had nothing left that could stir his interest.
Peace meant nothing to do.
A document lay on the desk: Stark Industries' quarterly report. He picked it up and glanced through it. The Energy Department's profits had risen by three hundred percentage points, all thanks to Tony's triangular reactor. That guy had a foul mouth, but he was damn good at getting things done.
Chu Hang casually tossed the report back onto the desk. The papers slid half a meter away. Strings of numbers meant nothing to him. What he wanted to know was when the next interesting "toy" would arrive.
There came two light knocks on the office door.
"Come in."
Natasha Romanoff pushed the door open and entered. She wore a professional suit and held a tablet in her hand. Her expression was perfectly composed, revealing nothing of what she was thinking.
"Mr. Chen, the exploration report for the Polaris Project." She handed over the tablet.

Officially, it was Stark Industries' deep-sea exploration project. Its real purpose was known only to Chu Hang and a handful of others—to find the plane that had crashed into the Arctic Ocean seventy years ago, the Valkyrie.
