The Exoskeleton Research Center was a subordinate unit of the Department of Applied Technology Development under the Science and Technology Bureau. Like the development department itself, it had been converted from a confiscated Spire noble estate.
When Huron arrived at the Exoskeleton Research Center, Armenius was already prepared and led him directly to the testing grounds for the MA-2 "Field Army" Exoskeleton.
More than a dozen Auxilia soldiers were moving through the complex simulated terrain. Wearing "Field Army" Exoskeletons, they rapidly traversed a rough course filled with pits and obstacles, testing the exoskeletons' performance.
Unlike the somewhat crude-looking MA-1 "Sapper" Exoskeleton, the MA-2 "Field Army" Exoskeleton took protection in space combat environments into account and adopted a sealed design.
A matte black integrated lightweight sealed suit wrapped around the user's entire body. The outer armour and frame were connected to the suit through magnetic locks and double sealing rings, ensuring airtightness as much as possible.
The headpiece was a smooth, slightly protruding V-shaped ballistic visor. A low ridge-like sensor array sat atop it, integrating a multispectral imager, laser rangefinder, and tactical data-link antenna.
The breastplate was a single sloped piece of plasteel, nearly 30 millimetres thick at its thickest point. On the back sat a somewhat bulky backpack with cooling fins, containing the power system and intelligent control system.
The shoulder guards drew inspiration from Power Armour, broad and layered to protect the neck and upper arms. The right shoulder guard also retained a stock locking slot.
The waist and legs were fitted with mounting points for modular plasteel armour plates, while the feet wore magnetized anti-slip combat boots.
After putting on the "Field Army," the soldiers generally stood 2.1 to 2.2 meters tall and appeared rather burly, like miniature giants. But this was not a sign of advanced technology.
