The defining feature of the finalized Special Operations Brigade organization was that it replaced indirect firepower with direct infantry firepower wherever possible, increasing the number of frontline combat personnel.
The basic unit of the Special Operations Brigade was a squad consisting of two Chimeras with their three-man crews, along with twelve dismounted combatants.
In addition to the improved Bolters, Rocket Launchers, and Melta Grenades issued to everyone, they were also equipped with three Plasma Guns, three Melta Rifles, one Heavy bolter, and one reconnaissance Drone, arming every soldier to the teeth.
A platoon consisted of five combat squads and a fifteen-man support squad. The support squad included the platoon commander, communications personnel, medics, Sappers, and others, as well as a Melta Cannon for additional fire support, bringing the total to 105 men.
A Special Operations company consisted of four combat platoons, a company headquarters command post, and a fire support platoon equipped with weapons such as a Melta Cannon, a Plasma Weapon, and fuel-air explosive bombs, for a total of 480 personnel.
A Special Operations Battalion consisted of three combat companies, a battalion headquarters command post, and a combined support company containing a reconnaissance platoon, an assault platoon, and a firepower platoon, with roughly 1,800 personnel in total.
One Special Operations Brigade consisted of three such battalion-level units, plus brigade headquarters and attached support units such as an artillery company, totaling around seven thousand personnel.
Such a brigade had nearly seven hundred frontline combat vehicles alone—that was, vehicles from the Chimera Vehicle Family. If logistics vehicles for ammunition transport, fuel transport, engineering recovery, living supplies, and the like were included, the brigade's vehicle count would directly reach the terrifying figure of over a thousand.
And if logistics personnel were included as well, the entire brigade's headcount would approach twenty thousand,
