Background & History

Lu Yuan awakened the Martial Soul as the Dark Iron Spear at age six. It was registered as an ordinary spear-type instrument Martial Soul, though its wielder possessed innate level-ten Spirit Power. Its first Spirit Ring did not alter the weapon’s form, and Spirit Hall later confirmed that the original spear had been unremarkable at awakening. 1 17

Its first transformation occurred after Lu Yuan changed fate nodes and absorbed Origin of Destiny during the Qingshi Valley incident. The Dark Iron Spear became the Piercing Spear, an evolution neither Qian Daoliu nor Spirit Hall’s records could explain as an external attachment or forced alteration. 16 17

The Piercing Spear subsequently displayed an unusual affinity for rare materials and damaged spear components. It resonated with a sealed spear fragment in the Worship Hall treasury, though it could not absorb that fragment at the time. It later selected Gray Silver Ore from the Royal Treasury on its own, leading to its second evolution into the Mountain-Shaking Spear. 19 50 51

The Mountain-Shaking Spear’s reaction to the sealed broken spear eventually led Lu Yuan back to the Worship Hall. By expending his remaining Origin of Destiny, he awakened and fused with the broken spear’s core, becoming the Abyss-Sinking Spear. Its fourth and fifth evolutions followed, culminating in the Tidebreaker Spear. 55 58 65 71

The Martial Soul has changed from a plain black weapon into an increasingly refined and patterned spear. Each evolution has altered its color, weight, and visible markings. 1 16 51 58 65

Martial Soul Summoning and Dismissal

As an instrument Martial Soul, the spear can be summoned, dismissed, and immediately re-summoned during combat.

• Lu Yuan can deliberately dismiss the spear while an opponent is gripping it, causing their hand to close on empty air. 9

Piercing Edge

Lu Yuan’s First Soul Skill originated from the approximately three-hundred-year-old Wind-Rending Leopard. It is a high-speed thrusting skill that concentrates force at the spear tip. 4
