Spirit beast tracks, wounds, behavior, and absence can reveal dangers before the source is visible.

• Fleeing tracks from normally incompatible species indicated that Qingshi Valley's ecosystem was being driven south by an unknown threat. 13

Qingshi Valley Incident

A mass exodus of spirit beasts reveals that the patrol report's estimate of four-hundred-year threats is disastrously inaccurate. The corpse of a 1,300-year Red-Armored Rhinoceros, fleeing Dark-Patterned Shadow Leopards, and the three-thousand-year Man-Faced Demon Spider establish a predator far beyond the team's expectations. 13 14

North Hunting Forest Training

Shao Ping uses real encounters to teach Lu Yuan that spirit beasts fight without arena rules. Lu Yuan learns tracking, restraint, and weak-point targeting through battles with Iron-Backed Jackals and later develops into a fighter capable of handling beasts approaching three hundred years of cultivation. 30 32

Second Spirit Ring Hunt

Abnormal beast movement and a slain Azure-Horned Deer foreshadow a security breach in the outer zone. The wounded Rift-Toothed Tiger's appearance terminates the assessment and later leads investigators to the Western Spirit Beast Transfer Gate. 44 45 46 47

• Spirit beasts can be valuable sources of cultivation resources, but Lin Yue and Qian Daoliu both warn against choosing a ring merely for age or immediate advancement. 2 33
• Lu Yuan's first Spirit Ring came from a beast weakened and restrained by others, while his second came from a 720-year Quake-Armor Beast he killed alone. 4 34
