Arc 2The Wall and the Black Gate

Joffrey used his power and growing influence to reshape events from Winterfell to the Wall, while Elin helped bring about the fall of Pentos. At Nightfort, Joffrey tested a core implanted in Osha and discovered that human souls could generate Source Energy beyond his own limits.

  • Robert learned that Stannis had been murdered, and Joffrey rode into Harrenhal on Rainwater before deciding to kill the king with his song, “King’s Landing.”
  • Joffrey arrived at Winterfell, courted Sansa, defeated Theon, and used a Great Council to weaken Robb before Jon pledged himself to Joffrey.

Joffrey returned from beyond the Wall, seized control of King’s Landing, and became king after Robert’s death. He organized Dragonstone’s forces, exposed Bloodraven’s threat, and began building a magically empowered army as the Long Night approached.

  • Joffrey led his companions through the black gate beyond the Wall, defeated the Wildlings’ attack, and gained Leaf and several Children of the Forest as followers.
  • Joffrey warned the Night’s Watch and Winterfell about Bloodraven, while Hannah prepared to seize control of King’s Landing and arrest Varys and Petyr Baelish.

Joffrey crowned himself king, declared the Long Night was coming, and reorganized the realm around Divine Grace while preparing for war with Renly. As Eddard and Leaf took on new roles, Joffrey’s sweeping investigation of King’s Landing escalated into a violent confrontation in Flea Bottom.

  • Renly dismissed Monford Velaryon’s fleet, learned Storm’s End owed 1.6 million Golden Dragons in taxes, and declared Joffrey’s claim illegitimate while proclaiming himself the rightful king.
  • At Joffrey’s coronation, he took the crown himself, appeared as a giant of light, and proclaimed the coming Long Night, leading Melisandre to recognize him as Azor Ahai reborn.
