Seven days passed in a rush.
Within Wrongful-Death City, the doors of a blackened hall opened once more. Several strange figures descended before them, then entered on foot to show their submission.
These great demons and old fiends had completely reined in their auras. Each now bore a pattern like a golden lotus upon their bodies. Their gazes briefly swept over one another, yet none showed any desire to speak.
A flicker of divine sense passed between them, touching and parting at once.
As they walked step by step into the depths of the vast hall, the expected figure was nowhere to be seen upon the Frozen Throne. None of the demons were surprised. They merely took up the positions where they had stood when they were previously suppressed and waited in silence.
Even the patterns between their brows detached themselves once again, naturally transforming into golden lotuses that hovered overhead and illuminated this dark place.
When the last demon quietly returned to position, the towering doors slowly closed.
Only then did a white-haired figure finally manifest upon the high throne, already seated there at some unknown time.
A calm gaze swept over those below, lingering briefly on every demon as though confirming something.
"Very good."
Those two simple words loosened the stagnant atmosphere in the hall. Even the light cast down by the golden lotuses three feet above their heads seemed to soften slightly.
"It seems you have all done reasonably well. Though there were a few minor flaws here and there, you have at least met my requirements from that day."
"Ghost Emperor, the Netherworld is vast indeed. Though we have nominally taken control of such extensive yin lands, it is truly difficult to oversee them all within seven days—"
