That Zoanthrope had been killed the moment it showed itself. It never got the chance to unleash its psychic artillery.
Li Qinwu breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe he had been a little too nervous.
Back when he played Space Marine 2, he had controlled Titus and gotten surrounded by three Zoanthropes. It had felt like being flattened by a psychic truck, and he had to restart.
But thinking about it now, he had definitely overreacted.
Titus and his squad had only carried light weapons back then. Li Qinwu had tanks and armored vehicles, not to mention heavy hitters like Knight Mechs.
Surely one or two Zoanthropes couldn't withstand a bombardment from a hundred massive Plasma Guns?
He had barely relaxed when reality slapped him hard.
Another half-flying Zoanthrope drifted out from behind a skyscraper in the city opposite them.
The moment Li Qinwu spotted the new target, he aimed the Twin-linked Pulse Cannon at it.
But the cannon had just fired and needed to recharge. It would take about ten seconds.
He tracked the half-flying Zoanthrope through his advanced optical sight, ready to blast it out of the sky the instant the Pulse Cannon finished charging!
What happened next stopped him cold.
After the first Zoanthrope emerged from behind the skyscraper came a second, then a third, until thirty had appeared!
Once the thirtieth Zoanthrope had rounded the building, a much larger, unusual creature floated out behind it, hovering above all the others.
It stood around seven meters tall. Half its body was an enormous brain, while its lower half consisted of masses of curling tentacles. It looked like a giant squid-shaped Zoanthrope!
