Several months later, in a medical compartment aboard the Protector Warship, Apothecary Saint Raiser peered into a microscope, examining the sequences of the gene-seed.
Once he had finished, he recorded something on his personal panel.
Five gene-seeds lay in a row on the laboratory bench before him, belonging to the Ultramarines, Emperor's Children, Imperial Fists, White Scars, and Space Wolves respectively.
All of these gene-seeds had been sanctified before Li Qinwu handed them to Apothecary Saint Raiser to check for problems and find compatible recipients.
After finishing his examination, Saint Raiser said to Li Qinwu behind him:
"Although I don't know where you got these gene-seeds, there's nothing wrong with them. They're pure.
"What's more, these gene-seeds seem to have undergone some optimization. Their genetic compatibility is higher, making it easier to find recipients!"
Li Qinwu asked:
"Do you have any compatible recipients on hand right now? I need to begin their modifications immediately.
"Once their modifications are complete and their glands have matured, I'll expand our forces using their genetic templates."
Saint Raiser stared at Li Qinwu.
"You've got enough nerve for six men! Not only do you want to become an Astartes warlord, you're also stealing other Chapters' gene-seed!
"If you're discovered, you can look forward to being hunted to death by the other Astartes Chapters!"
Li Qinwu shrugged indifferently.
"Then I just won't get caught. Besides, even if I am discovered, by then I'll have Astartes in droves and fleets as thick as a forest. What could they do?
"Enough. Do you actually have any suitable candidates for modification? Don't hold out on me. I've already given your Broken-winged Angels plenty of support. You can't let me down, old Saint!"
