Titan Adjutants were vital personnel for operating Titans, but they were not pilots.

The neural interface devices in the Warhammer universe were rather mystical. The larger the machine being operated, the greater the mental strain fed back to the operator.

The largest machine a single person could operate was a Knight Mech. Anything bigger was beyond their endurance.

Therefore, operating a mech at least twenty meters tall, like a Titan, required multiple people.

Generally speaking, a Titan's crew consisted of one pilot, a chief commander, and three to ten Titan Adjutants under him.

These Titan Adjutants were not pilots. Their role was to share the data redundancy generated by the Titan's chassis; they could not operate the Titan.

Simply put, they were human memory sticks.

Below the human memory sticks was the rest of the Titan crew. These people did not participate in the Titan's neural link. They generally maintained the Titan's operations and manned weapons such as point-defense cannons.

Overall, a Titan Adjutant was a human component, part of the Titan.

Components were only responsible for functioning, not thinking. Since the Titan Adjutant had come here, it could be understood that the Titan had sent him, which was why the surrounding Tech-Priests treated him with immense respect.
