Li Qinwu was certain this was the Siege of Pilsen in 1618 because he had seen the flags on the city walls.
The besieging force was the Bohemian Protestant Coalition, flying a white-over-red horizontal bicolor.
The defenders were the Holy Roman Catholic Army, flying a golden double-headed black Aquila.
Li Qinwu's little history lesson began, and Joel, a child interested in human history, asked:
"Sir, did this battle have any major significance for humanity?"

"This battle was enormously significant. It had far-reaching effects on humanity's military affairs, religion, and ideology.
Militarily, this war was considered a foundational conflict bridging the age of cold weapons and modern warfare.
Before this war, you could see plenty of cold-weapon battlefields where soldiers wore plate armor and hacked wildly with swords.
After this war, firearms saw widespread use, matchlock muskets and artillery were extensively equipped, and line infantry tactics were developed.
Look at these soldiers' armor. In the past, most warriors wore full plate armor, turning themselves into iron men. Now, they had abandoned protection for their limbs and wore only breastplates and helmets to protect vital areas. Later on, even helmets and breastplates would be discarded.
