Falling for Sakazuki's provocation and coming from the outer sea, Squard now stood inside the cabin, watching the two Cipher Pol agents whom Whitebeard had beaten to near-death with a single punch, and instinctively swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

According to what Sakazuki had said, Whitebeard had betrayed their affiliated pirate fleets, using the lives of their people in exchange for the lives of Ace and everyone on board Whitebeard's ship.

Yet, could the recovered Whitebeard really resort to such a method?

He tightened his grip on his long saber, lowering his head with a deep gaze.

He chose to believe Sakazuki's words not only because the Marines' actions truly matched what Sakazuki claimed, but even more so because deep down, he wanted to give himself a reason for betrayal.

Ace was Roger's son, while he, Squard, was a mortal enemy of Roger, and his former comrades had been completely massacred by Roger.

Even though he and Ace had a very good relationship, the thought that the person he was going to save was the son of his greatest enemy fanned a flame that simply could not be suppressed.

Rather than saying he had fallen for Sakazuki's words, it was more like he was willing to believe them himself, because only then would he have a reason to take revenge!

Yet now, he had sobered up.

Watching the tall figure standing there and laughing heartily, he hardened his gaze and walked over.

Regardless of the facts, and whether Whitebeard had betrayed them or not, he was prepared to settle things here.
