The three arrived at Three Mountains Town, where the Bole clan was located. The moment they entered the town, they sensed that something was wrong. The entire town was deathly quiet.
"This shouldn't be happening. There should usually be plenty of people in town at this hour." Seeing the town's unusual silence, Kate spoke up. Even the clan's guard patrol was nowhere to be seen.
The group hurriedly quickened their pace toward the Bole clan estate, but it was just as eerily quiet there. There was not even a servant in sight.
Boom! Boom!
Just then, a series of violent impacts came from the rear courtyard, and the entire estate reeked of blood.
"Something's wrong!"
Kane and Kate charged straight into the Bole clan estate and raced toward the rear courtyard, with Wharton close behind them.
As they entered the estate and saw corpses scattered across the ground, the entire place in ruins, Kane and Kate immediately transformed into Tiger-Striped Warriors and continued rushing toward the rear courtyard.
Inside the Ancestral Hall in the clan's rear courtyard, the main doors had been smashed beyond recognition, and one wall had been partially destroyed. A group of warriors dressed in Dark Church uniforms stood in a fan-shaped formation, surrounding two middle-aged men. Behind the men stood a group of women and children, with two women shielding two children of six or seven behind them.
The middle-aged men bore a seventy percent resemblance to Kane and Kate. They were apparently Kane's father and uncle. Both had several wounds across their bodies, though none were fatal. It was clear their enemies had deliberately spared their vital points.
"Marquis Bole, you should surrender now. None of you are getting away today. That way, we can spare you some suffering. You two brothers possess seventh-level physical bodies. Only an Ultimate Warrior's talent could possibly achieve that. It is your honor to be noticed by the Church." One of the leading middle-aged men spoke calmly, his hands clasped behind his back.
"Haha, honor? We learned long ago what kind of filthy acts your Dark Church is capable of. Come at us if you dare. Even if we brothers die, we will never let you have your way!" The older of the two middle-aged men spoke, radiating a savage aura.
"Hahaha!"
"With nothing but your seventh-level bodies?" The Dark Church man laughed loudly, clearly unconcerned by the threat.
"I'm standing right in front of you. What can you do about it?"
"Is that so? Then what about me?" Before his voice had faded, an icy voice descended from the air into the crowd.
At the same time, a pair of tiger claws dropped from above, slashing straight for Bishop Thunder's head. Ripples spread through the air in their wake like waves across water. The attacker clearly intended to kill him in a single strike.
"That's right, all of you can die!" Before Kane's attack landed, another cold voice rang out from outside the Ancestral Hall.
A crimson spear shot forward like a fire dragon, piercing directly through the body of one Church warrior.
With flames burning in his eyes, Kate thrust his spear through the nearest Sixth-Level Warrior. Without wasting a word, he swiftly pulled out the spear and attacked the nearby Church warriors again, severely injuring several of them in the blink of an eye.
Thunder was a Level Nine Warrior, and his reaction was extremely swift. He twisted his body aside and immediately evaded Kane's attack, though the tiger claws still struck his left arm. Fortunately, the injury was not serious.
He stared at Kane in terror, a chill running down his back. Had he reacted any slower, it would not have been merely his left arm that was injured.
"What kind of magical beast is this?" After Kane's attack was avoided, the surrounding Church warriors hurriedly gathered around Thunder. Kane and Kate also stood in front of their parents, glaring at their enemies with killing intent covering their bodies.
"A Tiger-Striped Warrior?" Thunder said in disbelief.
According to their intelligence, no new Tiger-Striped Warriors should have appeared. How had two suddenly emerged?
"Kill them. I'll take care of your uncle and aunt," Wharton said as he stepped up beside them.
Removing the greatsword from his back, Kane charged at Thunder once more. Every strike targeted a vital point. Aside from Thunder, none of the others could withstand even a single exchange. The warriors who rushed forward to help surround Kane were killed three at a time in just one clash. Thunder had no choice but to join the battle personally, yet the instant they exchanged blows, Kane completely suppressed him. He could only defend while trying to figure out how to notify the Church for reinforcements. At the same time, he stared at Kane in shock. Kane had only reached the Peak Level Eight Warrior stage after transforming into a Tiger-Striped Warrior, while Thunder himself had been a Level Nine Warrior for many years. Yet he was still being completely suppressed.
Kane was practically a humanoid magical beast. Although Thunder was a bishop of the Dark Church, he had only heard of Tiger-Striped Warriors and had never truly seen one. He was already considering retreating.
Wharton used water-element magic to provide the Bole clan members with simple treatment. He stood nearby and watched the others coldly, preventing the Church warriors from escaping while also letting Kane and Kate gain some experience in battle.
"This is bad, Bishop. These people are too strong. We should retreat first. What kind of magical beasts are they?" one of the Church warriors said as he watched Thunder being suppressed and saw several of their Level Eight Warriors severely injured by Kate.
