Since That's the Case, Get Out of the School

In his previous life, Bai Yunsheng had studied in his not-so-large room until two or three in the morning every day, which was why he always gave people the impression of being listless and unmotivated. The top of the screen showed that the other person was typing.

Bai Yunsheng watched as he walked, patiently waiting for Meng Shangzhi's next message.

Even after Bai Yunsheng reached the cafeteria entrance, Meng Shangzhi's typing message had not been sent. People streamed in and out of the cafeteria. Someone came out from inside, and Bai Yunsheng instinctively stepped aside, but he was still bumped into. His phone nearly flew from his hand.

Bai Yunsheng raised his eyes and looked over.

It was a stranger.

Not only did the man fail to apologize, he shot Bai Yunsheng a malicious glare, muttered something uncivilized, and lifted a foot to leave. Under normal circumstances, Bai Yunsheng would not have bothered with something like this, but that man's gaze was truly unpleasant, as were his words.

The person trying to leave was grabbed by Bai Yunsheng.

Bai Yunsheng was taller than the man and stood on the steps. Looking down from above, he gave off the impression of looking down on others. The man's expression changed under Bai Yunsheng's gaze. He tried to shake off Bai Yunsheng's hand, but could not.

The cafeteria door behind them opened again, and several people filed out. Their footsteps were somewhat disorderly.

"Li De!" someone called out to the man, then hurried over to his side. "Li De, what happened?"

The man being held paused. Ignoring them, he looked at Bai Yunsheng with disgust in his eyes. "Are you trying to use your power to bully people again?!"

Bai Yunsheng raised an eyebrow. "Use my power to bully people? I haven't done anything yet."

Li De said, "Then why are you grabbing me?"

Bai Yunsheng said, "You bumped into me when you came out. You should apologize."

Li De said, "I didn't do it on purpose. Besides, who told you to stand in the doorway?"

Bai Yunsheng said, "I remember stepping aside for you."

More and more people gathered around them.

An incongruous voice emerged from the crowd. "Isn't this our young master Bai?"

Bai Yunsheng followed the voice and looked over. It was Sheng Chengguang.

Seeing that Bai Yunsheng had been distracted, Li De tried to shake his hand free again. But the moment he moved, Bai Yunsheng's gaze returned to him. "Did I say you could leave? Apologize."

Li De's face reddened as he blurted out, "I won't apologize to people like you."

Li De's words made Bai Yunsheng laugh. The next second, Bai Yunsheng released his hand.

Li De had been holding a posture ready to leave, so his center of gravity was off. When Bai Yunsheng let go, the pulling force vanished. Li De staggered back a step and fell flat on his back.

The onlookers around them burst into laughter.

Sheng Chengguang, standing nearby, watched Bai Yunsheng with great interest.

Bai Yunsheng said, "You must have read too many novels."

"You bumped into me and cursed at me. According to the label you've put on me, I should use my power to bully you and make you get out of this school, not ask you to apologize."

Bai Yunsheng stood with his back to the sunlight, his entire figure shrouded in shadow, with only a faint glow around his edges.

"Don't tell me you think this fearless-of-powerful-people act of yours is attractive, that someone will suddenly take a fancy to you."

"Wow, this person is really great. He'd never bow his head for power and status. He's a promising talent worth cultivating." Bai Yunsheng's tone was exaggerated, but there was no amusement in his eyes.

Li De's face went pale from the mockery.

Bai Yunsheng shifted slightly, and the gold, gemstone-inlaid school badge on his uniform reflected a flash of light, leaving Li De's gaze briefly unfocused.

"Since that's the case." Bai Yunsheng slowly looked at Li De. "Then get out of the school."

The interest in Sheng Chengguang's eyes grew even stronger.

Interesting.

Too interesting.

This was a completely different Bai Yunsheng.

What had Bai Yunsheng gone through? How had he suddenly become like a different person?

The person before him was not only beautiful, but covered in thorns.

Watching Bai Yunsheng walk farther and farther away, Li De finally became afraid. Picking fights with people wearing silver badges had given him tremendous courage in the past. Some silver-badge holders had indeed remembered his name, yet none of them had done anything to him.

All of that had given Li De the wrong impression.

The impression that someone might take a liking to him. After all, his grades really were quite good.

When he had looked out from the cafeteria today, he had assumed Bai Yunsheng was a gentle person. On top of that, the cafeteria's glass doors somewhat blurred the color of the badge, so, just as he had done countless times before, he bumped into him.

By the time he noticed that the badge was gold, it was already too late. But since things had come this far, he had no choice but to keep going.

But he had not expected things to develop differently from before.

"W-Wait!" Li De finally shouted to stop Bai Yunsheng just as he was about to step through the cafeteria doors.

Bai Yunsheng stopped.

Li De clenched both hands tightly. An inexplicable look of humiliation appeared on his face. "I'm sorry. I... I shouldn't have bumped into you."

Bai Yunsheng did not turn around. He only said coldly, "Too late," then disappeared from Li De's sight.

Li De hurried after him, saying in a panic, "I-I already apologized, I..." But when he reached the stairway, the security guard there stopped him.

Only people with silver badges could go to the second floor. Only people with gold badges could go to the third floor.

The hierarchy stood right before Li De, and he was powerless against it.

Li De walked out of the cafeteria in a daze, his mind filled with one thought: It was over.

Several people who had finished watching the spectacle passed by Li De, laughing.

Li De recognized one of them and eagerly reached out, only for that person to dodge away in disgust.

Li De wanted to say something.

Then he heard the person say, "Didn't I say he was just a clown? Last time, he even 'accidentally' spilled a drink by my feet. He thought he looked so fearless, but his eyes were full of ingratiation. Like a dog wagging its tail. It was seriously hilarious."

"Damn, is he insane? Weren't you angry?"

"Why would I be angry? I've seen plenty of people like that. They're pretty entertaining."

Li De froze where he stood.

The mocking voices drifted farther and farther away.

Li De was like a clown.
