Family background

Bai Yunsheng is the son of Feng Yanshan and Bai Zhi, Feng Yanshan’s first love and early supporter in building his business. Bai Zhi was severely disfigured while protecting Feng Yanshan from an acid attack; after discovering his long-term affair with Jiang Li, she divorced him and raised Yunsheng alone for ten years. Before dying of cancer, she sent Yunsheng to the Feng Household, hoping he would at least live safely there. 6

Bai Zhi repeatedly instructed him to hide his intelligence and talent, believing that standing out would endanger him. Her advice kept him inconspicuous, but it also left him isolated and unable to defend himself against abuse. 2 6

In his first life, Feng Tingfan stole Falling Rain, the necklace Bai Zhi left him, and threw it into a pool. Bai Yunsheng retrieved it, only to be held underwater until he drowned while the surrounding Feng relatives and servants watched.
