The Feng Household was pitch black, the entire house plunged into a dense, dark night like a massive monster hiding in the shadows.
Bai Yunsheng opened the front gate of the Feng Household with a blank expression, walking purposefully upstairs. Meng Shangzhi followed right behind Bai Yunsheng the entire way; he would accompany Bai Yunsheng to do anything, whether it was good or bad, right or wrong—as long as it was what Bai Yunsheng did, he would sort it out well for him.
Bai Yunsheng stood in front of Tingfan's bedroom door, not opening it immediately as if hesitating over something. Finally, he turned his head to glance at Meng Shangzhi, and upon meeting Meng Shangzhi's eyes, the hesitation in his heart instantly dissipated.
Meng Shangzhi's eyes were very dark, appearing even deeper in the dim environment. Yet it was precisely this pair of eyes, so dark that one could not judge his emotions, that made the very last trace of conflict in Bai Yunsheng's heart vanish.
The door was pushed open, emitting a very soft creak.
A small lump rose slightly under the soft, large bed, and Tingfan's shallow breathing drifted out from the silent room.
Bai Yunsheng walked toward the bedside without a moment's pause, reaching out directly to grab Tingfan's hair.
Immediately following, Tingfan's scream pierced through the entire villa.
Tingfan was still in the middle of a sweet dream when someone suddenly grabbed his hair and yanked him up from the bed, nearly scaring him into wetting himself. In the midst of his struggle, he accidentally pressed the light switch, and the room instantly illuminated. The light was blinding, and Tingfan squinted instinctively. When he opened his eyes again and saw clearly who had come, Tingfan woke up completely.
"Bai Yunsheng, why are you here?"
"I'm not here? Where should I be? In Gao Yan's bed?" Bai Yunsheng's gaze was icy, as if he were looking at a stranger. He forcefully dragged Tingfan down from the bed; Tingfan let out a scream, stumbled a few steps, and nearly fell to the ground. Before he could even steady himself, he was slapped across the face by Bai Yunsheng.
"Bai Yunsheng, you've lost your mind!" Tingfan looked at Bai Yunsheng in terror, his eyes filled with fury. He just wanted to struggle when his peripheral vision caught sight of Meng Shangzhi standing behind Bai Yunsheng, and his whole body froze as if hit by a pause button.
Meng Shangzhi stood motionless, looking at Tingfan with an indifferent gaze. Clearly he had done nothing at all, yet he exerted an invisible pressure on Tingfan, as though any resistance from Tingfan would only lead to a more miserable end.
Before Tingfan could finish that thought, he saw Bai Yunsheng curl his lips into a smile and say with a grim chill, "Yeah, I've lost my mind." With that, his fist smashed fiercely into Tingfan's face.
Punch after punch, he beat Tingfan as if venting.
The huge commotion and miserable screams abruptly startled Chairman Feng and Jiang Li awake.
The hallway light outside the room was turned on, followed by messy and hurried footsteps.
Chairman Feng and Jiang Li rushed to Tingfan's room, freezing in place when they saw the scene inside.
Tingfan's face was covered in blood as he curled up miserably on the floor. Bai Yunsheng was raining punches down on him one after another, while Meng Shangzhi stood coldly to the side as if all of this had nothing to do with him.
"Bai Yunsheng, stop!" Jiang Li shouted sharply, rushing forward in a panic to grab Bai Yunsheng.
Bai Yunsheng was pulled back a few steps, and Meng Shangzhi reached out to support his arm.
Jiang Li felt her heart break as she looked at the injuries on Tingfan's face. She turned her head and roared at the belated servants, "Are you all deaf with a commotion this big! Hurry up and call Dr. Luoluo over." Then she looked at Chairman Feng. "Yanshan, you—you have to give me and Tingfan an explanation!" Right after that, she hugged Tingfan and wept, the mother and son looking utterly pitiful.
If Meng Shangzhi weren't here, Chairman Feng could indeed handle this matter properly, but Chairman Feng looked over at Meng Shangzhi.
At this late hour, why was Meng Shangzhi here.
Catching Chairman Feng's gaze, Meng Shangzhi released Bai Yunsheng's arm, pulled Bai Yunsheng slightly behind him, and chuckled softly, "Chairman Feng, would you like to ask your good son what he's done first? You've truly raised a fine son." After saying that, his gaze turned grim as he looked at Tingfan, who was cowering in Jiang Li's arms. "Today, you must give Shengsheng an explanation."
"Any cooperation I have with the Feng Household is purely for Shengsheng's sake."
"Chairman Feng, you know that tens of billions in losses are nothing more than a drop in the bucket to me."
"My cooperation with Shengsheng can still take many forms. But the cooperation with the Feng Household might just end right here."
A few words laid the matter out clearly, and also placed the threat right out in the open.
Jiang Li's complexion paled slightly. Meng Shangzhi appearing here actually made her feel panicked inside as well. She could be certain that Meng Shangzhi would definitely stand on Bai Yunsheng's side, yet she still harbored a shred of wishful thinking; after all, since Tingfan was beaten like this, reason and sense dictated that Bai Yunsheng should be made to pay some price.
Yet she hadn't expected Meng Shangzhi to issue such a blatant threat.
A cooperation worth tens of billions was nothing more than something to be discarded at will in Meng Shangzhi's mouth.
Or rather, for Bai Yunsheng's sake, it could be discarded at will.
Chairman Feng took a deep breath and looked at Jiang Li and Tingfan. "What kind of unfilial wretch have you been up to now!"
Jiang Li stared with wide eyes and opened her mouth, but the warning in the look Chairman Feng gave her forced all her words to roll around in her throat without ever daring to speak them aloud.
Chairman Feng looked at Bai Yunsheng, his gaze complex. "Yunsheng, how do you plan to handle this matter?"
The look Bai Yunsheng cast at Chairman Feng carried a hint of mockery, but it was quickly concealed. "Father, it's very simple. Pick a date and tell everyone who I am."
Who am I?
I am Bai Yunsheng.
The legitimate son of the Feng Household, not some illegitimate child.
The moment Bai Yunsheng said these words, the surroundings fell into absolute silence. Jiang Li looked at Chairman Feng once more, but Chairman Feng only frowned without any expression, making it impossible for Jiang Li to gauge his attitude.
To make Bai Yunsheng's identity clear in front of everyone—anyone with a brain would know that Chairman Feng had cheated, and that she was the third party who wrecked someone else's relationship. Then her son...
No!
Absolutely not!
"Yanshan! No, this absolutely cannot happen!" Jiang Li said in a panic. "Make Tingfan apologize, or lock him up in the basement, anything else is fine, but not this."
Chairman Feng was also torn. Tens of billions in cooperation truly meant nothing to Meng Shangzhi, but it still hurt the Feng Household quite a bit. On top of that, once the Feng Household ended its cooperation with the Meng Household, this news would spread through the entire circle. How would others view the Feng Household? How would they guess the reason for this sudden termination of cooperation? No one would dare to discuss Meng Shangzhi; all the topics would shift to the Feng Household, bringing only disadvantages. But...
But making Bai Yunsheng's identity public.
Wasn't that equivalent to admitting that he had cheated and abandoned his wife and child?
Chairman Feng's brow furrowed even tighter.
