Background

Jiang Lin is a transmigrator who arrived in Douluo Continent six years before the start of the story. He lived alone in Holy Soul Village, where his inherited house and farmland made him a target for villagers seeking to seize them. While the All-Heavens Card-Drawing System remained stuck at 99% for six years, he feared awakening an unusable Martial Soul and being left unable to defend himself. 1

Before his Martial Soul awakening, Alto and several other children ambushed and severely beat him. Villagers watched without intervening, while Tang San passed by and ignored him. Old Jack was the only person to help Jiang Lin afterward. The system completed its loading while Jiang Lin lay injured in the rain. 1 2

The activated system granted him the Pure Yang Flame, King’s Power Sword, an Ancient God Art fragment, and a Bronze Random Character Summoning Card. He endured both inheritances immediately, then summoned Little Dragon Girl as his first companion. 2

Personality

Jiang Lin is observant, calculating, and highly conscious of power disparities. He hides the Pure Yang Flame, suppresses the King’s Power Sword’s true qualities, and withholds knowledge of Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer to avoid attracting Martial Soul Hall’s attention prematurely. 6 9

He is fiercely protective of the people he accepts as his own, particularly Old Jack and Little Dragon Girl. Threats against them drove him to eliminate the hostile villagers of Holy Soul Village, protect Old Jack with Shadow Ninjas, and vow to seek justice against the faction that ruined Old Jack’s life. 6 7 29 30

This protectiveness is paired with severe ruthlessness. Jiang Lin kills enemies who continue plotting against him, uses fear as a deterrent, and exploits defeated opponents for money or information. He nevertheless shows restraint at times, such as sparing the retreating Gale Wind Demon Wolves and choosing to focus on cultivation after learning the system penalizes malicious large-scale slaughter. 15 18 28 31

Abilities & Skills

All-Heavens Card-Drawing System

The system awards Collapse Points when Jiang Lin changes the original plot. He can spend these points on card pools containing inheritances, equipment, characters, and special forces. 2 7 16

  • Major deviations have produced rewards ranging from 100 points for the Holy Soul Village deaths to 7,300 points after Notting City’s political upheaval. 7 28
  • The system penalizes large-scale slaughter motivated by subjective malice, but does not penalize legitimate self-defense. 28
  • Summoned individuals have independent thoughts and emotions; their favorability cannot be treated as a fixed game mechanic. 35
  • Summons cannot truly harm Jiang Lin and may be forcibly returned if their favorability falls too low. 2 17

King’s Power Sword

A Gold three-star inheritance and Jiang Lin’s publicly revealed Martial Soul. The sword possesses extraordinary sharpness, sword qi, and an oppressive sword intent despite Jiang Lin’s limited cultivation. 2 6 13

  • Its sword qi can tear through opponents internally and greatly enhances Jiang Lin’s reactions in combat. 10 14
  • King’s Power Sword Intent forms a defensive sphere of sword qi capable of blocking powerful attacks. 32
  • First Soul Skill — Void-Splitting Slash: launches a sword light that vanishes and reappears up to fifty meters away, expanding before striking. 33
  • Void-Splitting Slash consumes roughly thirty percent of his soul power per use. 33
  • Jiang Lin can access only a tiny fraction of the sword’s original strength because of his current cultivation. 2

Pure Yang Flame

A Gold two-star inheritance that manifests as pale-golden divine flame and serves as Jiang Lin’s concealed second Martial Soul. 2 6

  • Can take the form of a flaming serpent or fire dragon to burn and pursue targets. 6 32
  • Jiang Lin believes the flame grew stronger after consuming the souls of those it burned, possibly in connection with their soul power and evil deeds. 7
  • He uses the flame to counter shadow-based concealment and to pressure faster opponents. 31 32
  • Jiang Lin has postponed attaching a Soul Ring to it because his body cannot yet efficiently endure the strain. 30

Swordsmanship and Combat Adaptation

Jiang Lin’s initial victories relied heavily on the quality of his Martial Souls, but he later recognizes his lack of practical combat experience and deliberately trains against Soul Beasts while suppressing the King’s Power Sword’s power. 30

  • Defeated Tang San despite Tang’s Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Mysterious Jade Hand, and concealed weapons. 10
  • Overwhelmed Xiao Chenyu’s Shadow Form through superior reaction speed and ranged sword qi. 14
  • Defeated the thousand-year Netherworld Leopard through layered sword qi, Pure Yang Flame attacks, and Little Dragon Girl’s final interception. 32

Black Shadow Ten-Man Squad

A Black Iron three-star special corps summoned through Jiang Lin’s first card draw. Each Shadow Ninja has Level 20 Great Soul Master strength and fixed favorability of 60. 7

  • Soul Skills: Shadow Following; Shadow Cage. 7
  • Combined Skill: Shadow God Claw, whose strength rises with the number of participating ninjas. 7
  • All ten were ultimately assigned to guard Old Jack and evacuate him if necessary. 30

Equipment & Items

  • Ancient God Art Fragment — Dark Gold three-star inheritance; cannot be used until Jiang Lin reaches Level 50 Soul King. 2
  • Purple Storage Ring — Recovered from Xiao Shan’s possessions; contained 17,000 Gold Soul Coins, meditation techniques, and miscellaneous items. 28
  • Martial Soul Hall identity token — Given by Su Yuntao after Jiang Lin’s awakening. 6

Relationships

  • Old Jack — Guardian and the closest thing Jiang Lin has to family. Old Jack rescued him after Alto’s assault and later risked his life to protect him; Jiang Lin protects him with Shadow Ninjas and vows to avenge the injuries inflicted by Yu Yuanpo. 2 5 29 30
  • Little Dragon Girl — First summoned companion and Jiang Lin’s primary emotional attachment. Her favorability rose from 40 to 50 after he killed the villagers who threatened her and Old Jack, then reached 55 after the Everplain City promise. 2 8 35
  • Tian Yan — Summoned Soul King and independent ally. Jiang Lin bargained three future acts of assistance in exchange for the means to increase her strength, though her favorability fell from 40 to 37 after she misunderstood his visit to Suke’s guardroom. 17 18
  • Xiao Wu — Dormitory Seven challenger who became increasingly close to Jiang Lin after losing their spar. Jiang Lin knows she is a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast but protects that secret. 11 12 30 34
  • Tang San — Initially distant village acquaintance and later a hostile academy rival. Jiang Lin defeated him in their duel and privately views him as a source of future Collapse Points rather than a friend. 1 8 10
  • Yu Xiaogang — Offered to accept Jiang Lin as a disciple, but Jiang Lin refused because he considered Yu Xiaogang unqualified to teach him. Their mutual dislike intensified after Jiang Lin’s clash with Tang San. 9 10
  • Meng Yiran — Initially fought Jiang Lin over a mutated Black-Scaled Viper. Jiang Lin yielded the Soul Beast to avoid Chao Tianxiang and Meng Shu, after which Meng Yiran declared that she would defeat him in the future. 34 35
