Background

Jiang Lin is a transmigrator who arrived in Douluo Continent six years before the start of the story. He lived alone in Holy Soul Village, where his inherited house and farmland made him a target for villagers seeking to seize them. While the All-Heavens Card-Drawing System remained stuck at 99% for six years, he feared awakening an unusable Martial Soul and being left unable to defend himself. 1

Before his Martial Soul awakening, Alto and several other children ambushed and severely beat him. Villagers watched without intervening, while Tang San passed by and ignored him. Old Jack was the only person to help Jiang Lin afterward. The system completed its loading while Jiang Lin lay injured in the rain. 1 2

The activated system granted him the Pure Yang Flame, King’s Power Sword, an Ancient God Art fragment, and a Bronze Random Character Summoning Card. He endured both inheritances immediately, then summoned Little Dragon Girl as his first companion. 2

Personality

Jiang Lin is observant, calculating, and highly conscious of power disparities. He hides the Pure Yang Flame, suppresses the King’s Power Sword’s true qualities, and withholds knowledge of Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer to avoid attracting Martial Soul Hall’s attention prematurely. 6 9

He is fiercely protective of the people he accepts as his own, particularly Old Jack and Little Dragon Girl. Threats against them drove him to eliminate the hostile villagers of Holy Soul Village, protect Old Jack with Shadow Ninjas, and vow to seek justice against the faction that ruined Old Jack’s life. 6 7 29 30

This protectiveness is paired with severe ruthlessness. Jiang Lin kills enemies who continue plotting against him, uses fear as a deterrent, and exploits defeated opponents for money or information. He nevertheless shows restraint at times, such as sparing the retreating Gale Wind Demon Wolves and choosing to focus on cultivation after learning the system penalizes malicious large-scale slaughter. 15 18 28 31

Holy Soul Village

Jiang Lin begins as an isolated child facing exploitation and violence in Holy Soul Village. After gaining the system and his inheritances, he publicly awakens the King’s Power Sword while concealing the Pure Yang Flame, changing the villagers’ treatment of him immediately. 1 2 6

When the villagers continue plotting against Old Jack and Little Dragon Girl, Jiang Lin kills the involved families overnight. The resulting deviation earns him 100 Collapse Points and his first special summon, the Black Shadow Ten-Man Squad. 6 7

Notting Academy

At Notting Academy, Jiang Lin severs gatekeeper Suke’s leg while defending Old Jack, rejects Yu Xiaogang’s offer of discipleship, and defeats Tang San after Tang challenges him over Yu Xiaogang’s honor. 8 9 10

He establishes himself as Dormitory Seven’s leader by defeating Xiao Wu, then disrupts the expected bond between Xiao Wu and Tang San. This produces 1,300 Collapse Points, allowing him to draw Tian Yan from the Bronze Card Pool. 11 12 16

Conflict with Suke and Notting City

Jiang Lin kills Suke and Masina after Suke continues arranging retaliation against him. Xiao Yan then attacks Jiang Lin at the academy, but Little Dragon Girl defeats and cripples the Soul Ancestor with Tian Yan’s assistance. 18 20 21

Following Tian Yan’s killing of Xiao Shan’s eldest son, Notting City mobilizes 1,500 guards against the group. The ensuing conflict ends with Xiao Shan’s death and a major alteration to the city’s future, awarding Jiang Lin 7,300 Collapse Points. 24 25 28

Return to Holy Soul Village and Star Dou Forest

Jiang Lin returns to Old Jack, inventing the existence of a hidden Jiang Clan to explain his companions and status. After revealing the Pure Yang Flame to earn Old Jack’s trust, he learns that Yu Yuanpo of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Sect was responsible for Old Jack’s crippling injuries. 29

He then assigns all ten Shadow Ninjas to Old Jack’s protection and enters the Star Dou Forest to obtain Soul Rings. Jiang Lin kills the thousand-year Netherworld Leopard, absorbs its Soul Ring, advances to Level 23, and gains Void-Splitting Slash. 30 33

While seeking his second Soul Ring, Jiang Lin clashes with Meng Yiran and Chao Tianxiang. Unable to face the hidden Meng Shu, he avoids escalation by surrendering the mutated Black-Scaled Viper and fabricating the Everplain Jiang Clan. 34 35
