Lu Chengxuan was raised as the designated heir to Lu Group, a business dynasty built by Chairman Lu and Madam Lu. Groomed for succession, he received an elite education and entered the company with extensive preparation; after becoming executive president, he successfully familiarised himself with its affairs and expanded the group’s business. 113

His exceptional run of success was later attributed in part to the original novel’s “protagonist halo,” which guided his decisions and allowed Lu Group to prosper even while he focused heavily on romance. 117

Lu is introduced as a wealthy, abusive patron of White Jade Capital. He slaps Meng Tianye, dismisses him as a kept escort, and threatens Cheng Lang after Cheng overhears the confrontation. 3

He grows suspicious of Cheng’s concern for Shen Huaiyu and Meng Tianye, viewing both men as “his people.” 8 When Cheng later challenges Lu’s treatment of Shen, Lu boasts that Shen remained with him only because Lu threatened to target Cheng. Cheng responds by punching him. 47

Conflict with Cheng Lang and Qin Mu

Lu repeatedly tries to drive Cheng away from Qin Mu. During one confrontation, Cheng deliberately claims he could seduce Qin for protection; Qin overhears Lu’s boasts about coercing Shen and leaves Lu humiliated. 27

Lu unlawfully detains Shen Huaiyu and attempts to use Shen’s position as Forest Style Milk Tea’s chief technology officer to pressure Cheng. He mocks Shen’s suffering and relies on Lu Group’s influence to dismiss Cheng’s threats. 109

When Cheng refuses to abandon Shen, Lu threatens to release intimate photographs and coercively demands sex from Cheng in exchange for deleting them. Cheng records Lu’s confession, reports Shen’s disappearance, and arranges for police to intervene. 111

Collapse of Lu Group
