"You picked a fine place to die, brat. My wind's Crush will tear you to pieces!" Erigor said loudly, howling winds swirling around him.
"Then give it a try!" Ed instantly pulled out several Flying Thunder God Kunai and threw them at Erigor, intending to seize the initiative.
"I know you—the Golden Flash of Fairy Tail. Your signature move is that spatial magic. As long as I completely avoid those darts of yours, you won't be able to teleport around whenever you please. Ah, they're called kunai, right?" Erigor flew swiftly through the air, directly evading Ed's kunai. Some landed on the tracks, while others fell into the canyon below.
"And this is a railway running through the middle of a canyon. It should be the worst possible battlefield for you, right? But for me, it's a different story. Storm Break!" A mass of wind blades flew from Erigor's hands toward Ed. Just as they were about to hit, Ed turned into a streak of golden light again and appeared on the tracks behind Erigor.
"Oh? It really is convenient magic, especially for running away." Erigor crouched in midair and mocked Ed with a sneer.
"So flying really is annoying. But aren't you celebrating a little too early? Haven't you heard that wind fuels fire? Fire Release: Majestic Destroyer Flame!" A roaring sea of fire burst from Ed's mouth.
"Don't make me laugh. Wind fuels fire? Watch my wind snuff out your little flame! Storm Wave!" Erigor gathered his magic power as gust after gust of wild wind swirled around him, gradually forming a massive tornado. The tornado then howled toward Ed. In an instant, gale-force winds and blazing flames intertwined, and a towering fire tornado radiated terrifying heat.
"That's... a tornado of flames? It's Ed! He's already fighting Erigor! Hold on, I'm speeding up!" On the other side, Gray, still driving, saw the towering flaming tornado in the distance. He was certain that Ed had caught up to the target and begun fighting. He immediately warned the others in the vehicle, then increased his magic output. The magic vehicle let out an overloaded wail and accelerated once more.
"What a spectacular sight. Who was it that said they'd snuff something out just now? Do you know? Rasengan!" With the fire tornado blocking Erigor's vision, Ed activated Flying Thunder God and flashed back onto the tracks behind Erigor. He gathered strength and leaped into the air, a Rasengan instantly forming in his hand as he slammed it toward Erigor's face.
"I was waiting for that! Storm Mail!" Erigor had been prepared. A violent cyclone instantly appeared, tightly wrapping around his body as though it possessed a will of its own. It kept spinning and compressing, forming armor condensed from howling winds.
The moment the winds around Erigor came into contact with the Rasengan in Ed's hand, violent air currents continuously erupted. Like a miniature typhoon, the Rasengan tore at Erigor's Storm Mail.
Seeing the Rasengan about to rip through the Storm Mail, alarm bells rang in Erigor's mind, and he immediately unleashed even greater magic power.
Wind Magic Palm! A violent gust formed in his palm and struck Ed. Still in midair, Ed crossed his arms and blocked the attack. As he was sent flying, a flash of golden light returned him to the ground.
"Tch, I almost tore that thing off him. This battlefield is seriously disgusting." Looking at the single railway suspended in midair, with bottomless canyons on both sides, Ed felt more than a little irritated.
"You really don't plan to come down and fight this fly from a legal guild head-on? Are you just going to keep dodging around in the air?"
"Do you think I'm an idiot? Hmph, Golden Flash... I'll extinguish your light right here! Emerald Rush!" Erigor crossed the index and middle fingers of both hands before his chest, manipulating magic power with all four fingers. Countless transparent wind blades capable of slicing through refined steel instantly wove into a net of death and rushed toward Ed.
"Tch, so I can't trick you into coming down... But it doesn't matter. Didn't you study my moves? Then did you fail to notice that, just now, the two of us..." Ed stood there calmly as he spoke. Just as the violent winds were about to strike him, he turned into a streak of golden light and vanished before finishing his sentence.
"Ran away again? Where did he go?" Erigor had just begun looking around when the unfinished sentence came from behind him. "...already made contact! Let's see where you can run now! Get down here! Great Ball Rasengan!"
Before Erigor could turn around, violent magic power directly ripped apart his Storm Mail. The intense rotation and impact sent him plummeting from the air, smashing heavily onto the tracks.
With a flash of golden light, Ed appeared on the ground. Looking at the unconscious Erigor, he said rather casually, "Whew~ If this place weren't such a pain to fight in, I'd have finished this ages ago. Still, I have to say, these tracks are really sturdy. They weren't damaged at all."
A sudden roar sounded behind Ed. He turned around and saw Gray racing over in the magic vehicle. "Hm? You're already here? That was pretty fast."
A minute or two later, Gray and the others arrived beside Ed. "It's already over? That was fast, Ed." Looking at Erigor lying on the ground, Erza praised Ed. "If Ed weren't so fast, a mere dark wizard—I could beat him too..." Natsu, who seemed to have come back to life after getting out of the vehicle, shouted loudly.
"If you know you're too slow, then shut up, you motion-sick loser." Gray shoved Natsu aside and asked Ed, "What about Lullaby? Did you find it, Ed?"
"Not yet. When I saw you coming, I only gave him a quick search. I didn't find any sign of the flute." Ed shook his head, then looked at Kageyama, who had also gotten out of the vehicle. "Did this guy get anything out of him?"
"This guy's pretty tight-lipped too. He wouldn't say anything." Lucy spoke helplessly from the side. Suddenly, a burst of wind erupted from Erigor's body, blowing Kageyama and the magic vehicle away. Then Erigor shouted, "Catch it!"
A flute wrapped in a small tornado flew from beneath the suspended tracks toward Kageyama.
Demonic Wind Wall! A howling wall of wind immediately surrounded Erigor, Ed, and the others. "Ha... this is my final trump card. Good thing you were standing close together. Otherwise, the Demonic Wind Wall couldn't have trapped all of you..."
Erigor spoke between ragged breaths. "And even if you kill me, this Demonic Wind Wall won't disperse. Until the magic power sustaining it runs out, none of you are leaving!"
"Ed! Did you leave a mark on the vehicle?" Erza immediately turned and asked.
"Honestly, no... But Erigor, did you forget that the area around us was covered in marks from our fight just now?" Ed waved a hand, then told the others, "Looks like this magic won't last long. I'll head out first. Deal with this guy, then follow after me."
With that, he turned into a streak of golden light and vanished from the spot.
