The next morning, at the Forest Pathfinder Guild...
"Yo, back already, Achill?" Guildmaster Abudu looked in surprise at the figure who had burst through the door. "Did you finish the job?"
"Don't even mention it!" Achill waved a hand irritably, found a chair and sat down, then said with a gloomy expression, "It was a total failure!"
"No way?!" Everyone immediately turned to look, while Abudu blurted out in disbelief, "Even you weren't a match for that demon? And your hair, could it be that it also—" By the end, he was staring intently at Achill's black hair as though trying to spot some flaw, muttering, "It doesn't look fake, though?"
"Hey, what kind of look is that?!" Achill immediately became annoyed at that strange gaze. "Don't get the wrong idea. I have no intention of converting to Buddhism, and my hair hasn't gone to meet God either. As for that so-called demon, he's already dead."
"The demon's dead? You killed him?" Abudu asked like an inquisitive child. "Then why did your mission fail if the demon was already dead?"
"That pervert did die, but not by my hand. I only gave him a good beating." Achill spread his hands innocently. "As for why the mission failed, ahem, it was mainly because I had no idea what Nasen Fragrant Herb looked like, so it failed..."
The first part was fine; at most, everyone was shocked by Achill's strength. But when they heard his last sentence, they all stumbled and decisively crashed to the floor with a thud!
The mission had failed because he didn't know what the target item looked like? His one and only failure had happened for such a goddamn reason? Damn! That was way too incredible! While speechless beyond measure, everyone also felt incomparable admiration for Achill's nerves. What a talent...
"Right, you said you didn't kill the demon. So who did?" Abudu asked curiously.
"Esoda. Wraith Messenger Esoda. He killed that perverted demon." Seeing everyone's expressions shift from confusion to horror, then from horror to shock, Achill added casually, "And I killed him..."
"Hiss—" As soon as those words fell, gasps rang throughout the guild. Including Guildmaster Abudu, everyone stared at Achill with indescribable horror in their eyes. There was doubt and disbelief, but above all, overwhelming shock! Because they knew Achill would never joke about something like this!
If it wasn't a joke, then was it true?! At that thought, everyone's hearts churned like stormy seas, unable to settle for a long time.
Hey! That was a notorious and powerful wizard! And he had been taken out just like that by this thirteen-year-old brat standing before them?! This, this was simply too unbelievable!!!
"But that bastard was way too hateful!! I searched his entire body and only found a few hundred J?!" As though remembering something unpleasant, Achill gritted his teeth and muttered, "Damn it! Damn it!! I really got screwed over this time!!! My living expenses..." By the end, his face was filled with extreme gloom again.
Everyone: "..."
In truth, he had suffered a huge loss. He had worked so hard to travel to Nasen Forest to do a mission and earn some extra cash, only to discover that he had absolutely no idea what Nasen Fragrant Herb looked like. Then he had run into a perverted demon and gotten disgusted, which would have been one thing. He had originally planned to pry the herb's appearance and characteristics from that pervert's mouth, but who the hell knew some damned Cheng Yaojin would suddenly appear halfway through?!
The worst part was that the bastard, even more perverted than the demon, had killed that guy without even saying a word! What the hell, was he picking a fight?! He was outright smashing this lord's rice bowl!!
Achill had thought that since the guy was wanted, he had to be carrying plenty of money. With that in mind, he had killed him without a word. Yet after searching him with complete confidence, he had only found a few hundred J?!! What the hell was that?!
He dared to swagger around with only that much money on him?! Damn it! Did he really think he was some big bad wolf?!!
Although he had whipped the corpse a hundred times afterward, it still wasn't enough to ease the hatred in Achill's heart.
Feeling depressed, Achill collected a new request form from Abudu. This mission was rather simple: catch the iron thief! A hundred li south of the town was a village called Kabus Village. A strange thief had appeared there a month ago. The reason he was strange was because he never stole money or anything like that. Everything he stole was made of iron—iron farming tools! It was extremely puzzling, but that wasn't the important part of the mission. The important thing was that too many iron tools were being stolen every day, causing enormous inconvenience to the village's residents!
Achill's mission was to catch this thief! Mm, a very simple mission, Achill thought.
But was everything really that simple?
For the sake of his living expenses, Achill hurried to the village without stopping. Ignoring the distrustful looks from the villagers, who couldn't believe the person accepting the job was just a child, he wandered around the village alone, trying to find the iron thief. But what depressed him immensely was that after wandering around all day, he hadn't found so much as a hair!
No choice. It looked like he could only wait until nightfall.
Night soon descended. Achill hid somewhere relatively concealed and waited for the thief's arrival. But an entire night passed, and to Achill's utter frustration, that bastard thief still didn't show up?!!
For the next three days, the iron thief never appeared. The longer Achill waited, the darker his expression grew. He felt like he had been played—played by that hateful thief hiding somewhere unknown!
With a fire burning in his heart, Achill silently swore that he had better catch that damned thief! Otherwise, he would torture him to death a hundred times, a hundred times over...
Sustained by that rage, Achill gritted his teeth and held on for another two days. Finally, on the fifth night since his arrival, the hidden figure finally appeared.
Under the cover of night, a thin figure sneaked out of the woods. After looking around and making sure no one had noticed him, he sped toward a house. Achill, hidden in the shadows, saw everything!
"Hmph, you finally decided to come out..." Achill lightly licked his lips, an unreadable glint flashing in his eyes.
Without hesitation, Achill blurred forward and quickly followed. He was truly curious—what did this guy need with so many iron items?
The thin figure quickly reached the house, then nimbly climbed in through a window.
It was a kitchen. Achill hid behind the window and silently watched everything, his confusion growing deeper. What was this guy doing in a kitchen? But when he saw the thin figure pull out a kitchen knife from somewhere inside, he suddenly slapped his forehead in realization and cursed himself for being an idiot. There were plenty of iron items in kitchens, like kitchen knives! Why hadn't he thought of that earlier?
But now wasn't the time to think about that. Since he had caught the man red-handed, he should capture him and complete the mission! Mm, and get revenge for making him wait so many days while he was at it!
With that thought, Achill prepared to break through the window. But when he turned his head and saw the scene before him, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets!
"Crunch—" The thin figure held the kitchen knife he had found, then suddenly bit down on it. Under Achill's stunned gaze, he began to chew it with apparent enjoyment, crunching away! Every now and then, he even let out a satisfied hum.
"Th-this—" Achill stared dumbfoundedly at the sight, completely stunned. Listening to the occasional sound of iron being chewed, he couldn't recover for a long time.
Hey! What did I just see? Achill shouted in shock inwardly. Was there actually someone in this world who ate iron as food?!!
While he was still dazed, the thin figure in the kitchen had already completely eaten the knife in his hand. Then he somehow pulled out an iron spoon and continued gnawing on it by himself.
Achill: "I *≈ap;ap;ap;ap;;;%%...¥≈ap;ap;ap;ap;;¥%%¥#@@#≈ap;ap;ap;ap;;..."
Just as he was wallowing in resentment, the thin figure seemed to sense something and suddenly stopped chewing the spoon. He shouted in a low voice, "Who?!!" As he spoke, the half-eaten spoon in his hand shot toward the window like an arrow released from a bow!
"That's..." Achill casually caught the rapidly flying spoon. Looking at the thin figure who had rushed outside with a fierce expression, Achill couldn't help sneering. "Should be my question, shouldn't it..."
"Gajeel! Gajeel Redfox." The figure slowly raised his head. In the faint moonlight, the nail-like things on his face glinted coldly. Gajeel answered in a youthful yet incomparably wild voice, "Iron Dragon Slayer—"
