Every blow churned up a vast swath of soil. Dust billowed and dirt flew wherever he went, and Achill had turned a forest with a fairly healthy ecosystem into utter chaos! After more than an hour of this frenzied digging, he had all but destroyed two-thirds of the forest!
By now, the sky had gone completely dark. Countless beautiful blue stars twinkled overhead, looking utterly serene.
"Phew. I don't know whether to call this lucky or unlucky. I never thought I'd fail to dig up the safe only to stumble across this much money instead. Do people around here all like hiding their money in the middle of nowhere...?" Sitting on the trunk of a large tree he had clearly just toppled himself, Achill gazed at the hundred-odd gold bars scattered carelessly on the ground before him, torn between annoyance and amusement.
He was annoyed because, after all that work, he still hadn't found the safe he was looking for. What amused him was his unexpected talent for treasure hunting. If he sold the gold bars he had dug up, they would probably fetch several million J! That was far more than the payment for this job~
