The Ten Wizard Saints, Dark Realm Corridor.//. //
Tap, tap-tap, tap-tap, tap— Heavy footsteps suddenly rang clearly through the dark corridor. In the scant candlelight along the walls, a deathly pale, stern face came into view. It was Rex.
Crimson blood covered him. His left arm was gone, and a horrifying, gaping wound marred the right side of his waist!
During the battle, Hypnos had abruptly awakened his second personality and turned dark, tearing off Rex's entire left arm. That same dark Hypnos had also ripped a huge, gaping hole in the right side of his waist!
Although he had sealed every wound with powdered metal and stopped the bleeding, he still looked utterly wretched.
In truth, only the unusual nature of Rex's magic had allowed him to survive such grievous injuries. Anyone else would probably have been dead long ago—how could they possibly have had the strength to walk back, step by step, as he did?
Even so, Rex could hardly survive injuries this severe. At best, he could cling to life a little longer, and even that depended on receiving proper treatment.
But he had not returned to seek help. He had come to report to his superiors, to tell them everything he had encountered.
When Achill had fought the dark Hypnos earlier, he had stopped paying attention to Rex. After the powerful surge of magic Achill suddenly released sent him flying, Rex had not taken the opportunity to escape. That was not the way a former assassin like him conducted himself. Yet even after resolving the situation, Achill had shown no interest in him, as though he had forgotten him entirely, and simply flown away.
Once Achill, the man at the center of it all, had flown off, Rex naturally had no reason to remain there either.
