Background

Lucy ran away from the exceptionally wealthy Heartfilia family and initially concealed her full name. Her father’s attempt to retrieve her through Phantom Lord later becomes the stated trigger for the guild war, though Jose’s jealousy of Fairy Tail was the real reason the conflict escalated. 25 26

In Hargeon, Lucy was briefly captivated by Bora’s false “Salamander” persona before recognizing that he had used banned charm and sleep magic to traffic women. She resisted, summoned Aquarius after recovering her key from the sea, and helped return Bora’s ship to shore. Following Bora’s defeat, Natsu invited her to Fairy Tail. 13
