Were freckles beautiful? That really depended on personal preference.
But when they generally appeared on white faces, they were actually considered a flaw.
Yet aesthetics could be defined by oneself. They kept suggesting to themselves that freckles were beautiful, and so their standards of beauty became fixed.
Many people genuinely liked freckles and thought they looked good.
But ethnic groups that had never convinced themselves that freckles were attractive would feel nothing about them.
Of course, Ke Chen did not say any of this, nor did he show any reaction. He merely thought Pepper Potts was fairly decent and did not find her ugly.
Ke Chen's gaze made Pepper Potts somewhat uncomfortable, so she immediately said, "Mr. Ke Chen, Mr. Stark has invited you to Stark Industries' New Year's Eve party."
"As the third-largest shareholder of Stark Industries, Mr. Stark very much wishes to meet you."
Americans loved inviting people to parties, and paying a visit in person was clearly the greatest show of respect.
After thinking it over, Ke Chen agreed.
Tony Stark had long noticed him. After all, Ke Chen had been continuously buying Stark Industries stock; it was impossible for Tony not to notice.
As for Tony, he naturally wanted to see what Ke Chen was up to and whether he would affect him.
He had no other thoughts.
The most important thing in capitalism was learning to share. Even Tony knew that everyone should make money together rather than keeping it all for himself.
Of course, that meant sharing with the rich. The poor could wait to be exploited.
"We'll be there on time,"
Ke Chen said.
Pepper Potts gave a professional workplace smile, sweet and charming.
"I'll relay that to Mr. Stark."
Afterward, she did not linger or look around. She simply took her leave.
She turned a blind eye to the two women in Ke Chen's home.
It was perfectly normal for rich people to play around.
Tony Stark changed women almost once a day, more often than he changed clothes. Yet Pepper could tolerate that and even marry Tony and have children with him, which showed what their values were.
As long as they were not married, they could play however they wanted.
For a rich man like Ke Chen, it would have been strange if he were not a Playboy.
Watching Pepper leave with a sway in her step, Ke Chen guessed she had not been at Stark Industries for long.
Pepper now looked only in her twenties, not as seasoned and capable as she would be later.
Of course, she also possessed the charm of youth.
"Someone was practically staring himself blind."
Lorna snorted coldly.
Elektra sat directly beside Ke Chen and said, "So you're a shareholder of Stark Industries."
No wonder he was so rich.
Through the efforts of Tony and his father, Howard Stark, Stark Industries had become a colossal force in the arms industry.
Tony in particular had taken over Stark Industries when he was only twenty-one. He was still under thirty, yet he had achieved enormous success. Stark Industries' stock had multiplied who knew how many times over. That was what a genius was.
"Are you two going tonight?"
Ke Chen asked with a smile.
"I don't like parties."
Lorna shook her head directly.
She had hardly attended such things from childhood to adulthood, nor did she want to adapt to them.
"Then I'll go."
Seeing that Lorna was not going, Elektra realized her chance had come. Her eyes turned seductive as she immediately said so.
Lorna did not say anything more. She had long known she could not stop her.
Even like this, Elektra still refused to give up. What else could Lorna do?
After thinking it over, Lorna could only attribute it to Ke Chen being too outstanding. Outstanding men always attracted people.
Night fell.
Ke Chen drove Elektra's sports car toward Stark Industries.
The Dodge Challenger was nice, but it was clearly not prestigious enough for this kind of party.
Elektra did not want her man to be outshone, so she had Ke Chen drive her car.
She owned quite a few cars. After all, she was a true rich beauty.
Sure enough, the venue was packed with luxury cars, and their arrival did not draw much attention.
But when the two of them stepped out of the car, they instantly attracted everyone's gaze.
Ke Chen wore a black suit, standing tall and straight with a calm expression.
Elektra wore a crimson evening gown with a deep V-neck and a bare back, like a flower in full bloom.
She loved black and red, and nearly all her clothes came in those two colors.
The two were a perfect match, and countless people stared at them.
The women all looked at Ke Chen, while the men sized up Elektra before looking at Ke Chen again. Realizing they were no match for him, they did not dare provoke him.
Since it was a Stark Industries party, most of the guests were naturally employees, though there were also many celebrities and powerful figures.
Ke Chen knew few of them, while Elektra knew quite a lot.
Under such circumstances, Ke Chen naturally let her go socialize.
Because Pepper Potts was also walking toward him.
"Mr. Ke Chen, Mr. Stark is waiting for you inside."
Pepper was still wearing office attire, looking somewhat out of place at the party.
Ke Chen glanced at her straight, slender legs and smiled. "You're so beautiful. You should change into an evening gown."
"Thank you. I will."
Pepper immediately replied before leading Ke Chen onward.
Praise from an important man like Ke Chen was still very pleasing to Pepper.
"It's inside."
She led Ke Chen to a private meeting room and opened the door for him.
"Thank you."
Ke Chen patted Pepper on the back and walked straight inside.
The moment he entered, he saw Playboy Tony Stark stroking a young model's thigh.
The woman looked somewhat familiar. He seemed to have seen her on the cover of some magazine.
He really knew how to play around.
When Tony saw Ke Chen arrive, he immediately had the model leave.
"Hi, Ke Chen. I'm Tony Stark."
Tony was as enthusiastic as if he had just met his own brother.
He could not help it. He needed to win Ke Chen over now.
If Ke Chen did not own so many shares, Tony would not have spared him a second glance.
"Tony, I've finally met you."
Ke Chen did not feel much toward this arrogant Playboy, but he still pretended to be enthusiastic.
He and Tony were the same kind of person, except Ke Chen had higher standards and was not like Tony, who accepted anyone who came along.
But precisely because of that, people of the same kind often hated each other the most...
The two fake-smile boys immediately began chatting, as though they had been friends for years.
After a while, Tony finally asked, "Why did you buy so much Stark Industries stock?"
Knowing Tony had finally revealed his true intentions, Ke Chen smiled and said, "Because you're a genius, Tony."
"Oh?"
Tony raised an eyebrow.
Of course he was a genius. Did that even need to be said?
His smug expression amused Ke Chen.
The current Tony Stark truly was an arrogant guy. Whether as a friend or an enemy, someone like him would make people think he was an asshole!
Comparing the Tony of the future to the Tony of today, Ke Chen could not help sighing that they were completely different people.
But he did not show it. Instead, he said,
"Tony, you and I are both cursed by knowledge!"
