I Am Their Godfather

Time passed slowly. During this period, Alexei noticed that Melina did not seem to have told Ke Chen.

What was worse, sometimes after the children had fallen asleep, Melina would leave the house at night and go straight across the street to Ke Chen's house to spend the night.

Though they were only a couple for the mission, it still left Alexei feeling frustrated.

If he could, he really wanted to teach Ke Chen a lesson.

Of course, he told himself it was for Ke Chen's own good.

So, early one morning, Alexei finally could not hold it in any longer.

Before Melina and the others had gotten up, he ran straight to Ke Chen's house and knocked on the door.

Ke Chen opened the door and looked at Alexei calmly.

"What is it?"

Alexei said gloomily, "I want to talk to you."

"Sure."

Ke Chen answered casually.

Alexei did not enter the house. He said directly, "Natasha and Yelena will be leaving with me soon. You'd better stop having contact with our family."

"Why?"

Ke Chen asked mockingly.

He was deeply reluctant.

The two little princesses were his goddaughters, but he had already weighed the pros and cons countless times.

Whether in name or by law, Natasha and Yelena were Alexei and Melina's daughters. Once Alexei completed his mission, no matter how young they were, they would not be spared.

Ke Chen could only protect himself. He definitely could not protect them.

Power!

How Ke Chen wished time could leap forward ten years at once, so he could gain formidable strength.

"There is no why. We're only passing through here. I'm doing this for your own good."

Alexei said unreasonably.

"They're my goddaughters."

Ke Chen said casually.

"They're even more my daughters, and Melina is my wife in name."

"You said it yourself—in name only. Look at who they listen to."

Ke Chen's words seemed to anger Alexei.

Being an agent was this miserable. So-called "husbands and wives" were only brought together by mission requirements, and even the daughters were adopted. He had no feelings for them at all.

As a man, he was a complete failure.

Alexei immediately lost control and threw a punch, wanting to teach Ke Chen a lesson.

But...

Ke Chen caught his fist directly, then clenched his other hand and drove it into Alexei's stomach.

"Ah!"

Alexei cried out miserably, feeling as though that punch had twisted his internal organs together.

He stared at Ke Chen in shock. He had never expected Ke Chen to hide his abilities so deeply. No wonder he had won over a proud woman like Melina.

He thought Melina liked Ke Chen because Ke Chen was stronger than him...

Alexei was the Red Guardian, the product of the Arctic bears imitating the United States' Super-Soldier Program.

Though no one knew who was stronger between him and Captain America, the Red Guardian was no weakling. At the very least, he was a Super Soldier.

Yet Ke Chen had landed a punch on him.

Though it had only been a simple dispute, it also meant that Ke Chen was no weaker than him.

After all, Batman was still the ceiling of human combat power. There was no way he could be weaker than Alexei!

Alexei still wanted to say something, but Melina had already run over.

When she saw Alexei looking for Ke Chen, she was terrified that Ke Chen would be bullied, so she ran out immediately.

"What are you trying to do?"

Melina stood in front of Ke Chen protectively, like a mother hen shielding her chicks.

Alexei felt like crying.

He was clearly the one who had been hit!

But in front of Melina, he naturally did not want to admit that he was inferior to Ke Chen, so he could only avoid the subject.

"I was just talking to him."

Alexei said.

"I have something to do. I'll be leaving first."

He knew he could no longer do anything to Ke Chen.

And it was obvious that Ke Chen would not listen to him at all.

After all, Ke Chen looked far more like Melina's husband, while Natasha and Yelena were both like his daughters.

And Alexei was merely an outsider...

Never before had Alexei wanted to complete his mission as badly as he did now.

He wanted to go home!

"Are you okay?"

Melina ignored him. Instead, she turned around, placed her hand on Ke Chen's face, and asked.

"Don't worry."

Ke Chen said with a smile.

Melina lowered her head. She felt that Ke Chen had become much stronger than before.

Indeed, Alexei could not possibly be his opponent.

"Come on, let's take them to school."

"Did you forget? They have the day off today."

Melina said helplessly.

"..."

Ke Chen truly had no concept of what day of the week it was anymore. Mainly because every day was so relaxed; he did not have to suffer like students or office workers.

"Then I'll make something delicious for you."

His cooking was excellent. After all, he had lived alone for so long, and the current food delivery service... was even more self-explanatory.

If he wanted to eat something better, he either had to cook it himself or drive into town.

He was not used to the food here either, so he might as well do it himself. As a result, his cooking kept getting better and better.

It was precisely this cooking skill that had won over his two goddaughters.

And Melina had fallen for it along with them.

"What are you making today?"

Melina immediately asked.

She was capable of cooking too, but she was completely helpless when it came to Chinese cuisine.

"Sweet sausage, sliced pork trotter... their favorites."

Ke Chen casually listed several dishes, all of them favorites of his two goddaughters.

By now, they no longer liked easy meals like sandwiches.

Melina's scalp tingled just listening to him. She could not help at all.

She could only make the simplest foods. If he asked her to bake some bread or something, there would be no problem.

But when it came to chopping vegetables and the like, she truly could not do anything.

So Melina said, "I'll go tell them the good news."

"There's no rush to start cooking."

Ke Chen directly grabbed Melina.

He had to admit, what Alexei had said to him today had given him a bit of a thrill.

Though he knew the true relationship between Melina and Alexei.

Other people did not know!

As he let his imagination run wild, Ke Chen felt incredibly thrilled.
