In the Infinity Multiverse, it was as if an invisible hand had always been controlling the course of events. Perhaps it did not matter if other things had changed, but anything concerning Gorr the God Butcher had remained unchanged.

Gorr the God Butcher had still appeared and been controlled by the Necrosword. Thor had also learned of this from someone other than Sif, as if things had gone in circles and returned to their original path.

Moreover, Thor knew even more. He knew that Gorr the God Butcher had killed Rapu, the God of Light, and that Gorr had also slain Akkan's guardian god, causing the temple to be seized...

Combined with everything that had happened here, Thor realized just how serious—and imminent—the crisis was.

"God Butcher... the Necrosword."

Thor murmured gravely. If Gorr were allowed to continue slaughtering, perhaps all the gods really would be killed. He had to be stopped!

In the comics, Thor had fought Gorr a thousand years ago and lost, leaving Thor with psychological trauma...

Though he did not have that trauma now, he still knew he could not defeat Gorr, who possessed the Necrosword, on his own. The Necrosword was simply too overpowered.

The Necrosword had been forged by Knull, the god of symbiotes, using the divine fire from the head of a Celestial he had killed. As a result, it lacked the symbiotes' weaknesses, such as fear of fire, while still granting immense power to its wielder and symbiote host.

Slaughtering gods was an easy task for it. Before the wielder of the Necrosword, all gods felt boundless fear.

Take Zeus, for example. He cherished his life and kept up appearances, wanting only to hide in Omnipotence City and avoid being found by Gorr the God Butcher, let alone confront him.
