Background / History

Tang San is the son of Clear Sky Douluo Tang Hao and Ah Yin, a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Grass Soul Beast who took human form. Ah Yin sacrificed herself to protect Tang Hao and Tang San, leaving Tang Hao with a hundred-thousand-year ninth Spirit Ring. 127 140

He traveled with Xiaowu to apply to Shrek Academy on his teacher Yu Xiaogang's recommendation. At registration, Tang San identified himself as a level 29 Control-type Battle Soul Master with Blue Silver Grass; he later took command of the group’s formation during Zhao Wuji’s fourth assessment. 39 43 47

Tang San’s relationship with Youquan rapidly deteriorated after Xiaowu suffered backlash during the assessment. He blamed Youquan for not intervening, while she considered his suspicion unreasonable after he and Xiaowu had refused her recovery pills. Their conflict escalated into repeated attempts on one another’s lives. 49 50 63 68

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang San revealed his second Martial Soul, the Clear Sky Hammer. He endured severe injuries during the final conflict until Tang Hao intervened; Tang Hao was subsequently defeated by Xiao Yan and later killed by Nan Xi. 121 127 128

After entering Slaughter City, Tang San adopted the name Tang Yin and emerged drastically changed in appearance and methods. He left the city unusually quickly despite Youquan’s attempts to have Fallen Ones pursue him, then was identified by Youquan as a Child of Destiny protected by the Sea God and Asura God. 135 138 161 162

Tang San later founded the Tang Sect with the Four Single-Attribute Clans and began preparing for the Sea God inheritance. He completed the Sea God’s Seventh Trial, obtained the Sea God Trident, and returned to the continent as a Soul Douluo. 169 199 242

Appearance

Tang San’s appearance changed significantly after Slaughter City. He was once recognized by his long blue hair, but afterward his hair became dark blue with crimson ends; his eye sockets were sunken and his body gaunt. 135 162

  • Post-Slaughter City appearance — dark-blue hair with a deep crimson gradient at the ends; a skeletal, Fallen One-like physique. 162
  • Blue Silver Emperor state — releases blue-gold flames around his body when fully activating his evolved Blue Silver Grass. 269
  • Post-devouring appearance — grayish-white hair, dark-red divine armor, and crimson markings across his face. 284

Personality

Tang San is consistently strategic in battle, rapidly identifying traps, directing formations, and adapting his techniques to the enemy. He protected Ning Rongrong during the Shrek assessment, used his Blue Silver Grass to create openings against Zhao Wuji, and recognized the Heaven Dou Palace incident as a setup shortly after Xue Ye’s death. 47 49 171

His strongest attachment is to Xiaowu. He pursued the Titan Giant Ape alone after it took her, survived repeated conflicts to revive her, and attempted to shield her even when he and Xiaowu were out of options against Bibi Dong and Nan Xi. 68 164 255

Tang San also holds grudges intensely, especially against Youquan and Spirit Hall following Tang Hao’s death. This fixation increasingly overtook his judgment: after his own resurrection, he allowed his Blue Silver Grass to drain the God of Food and the Nine-Colored Goddess, then considered devouring the Sea God and Asura God for enough power to defeat his enemies. 135 282 283

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, the inherited Martial Soul of the Clear Sky Sect. 94 121

  • Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor — his primary control Martial Soul, later referred to as the Blue Silver Emperor. 43 269
  • Clear Sky Hammer — a powerful second Martial Soul initially used without attached Soul Rings; Tang San could contend with Demonic Charm while wielding it. 121
  • Twin Martial Soul advantage — permits him to alternate between battlefield control, weapon-based offense, and Hammer techniques. 121 163

Blue Silver Grass Control

Tang San uses his Blue Silver Grass to restrain opponents, create openings for allies, and disrupt enemy movement.

  • First Soul Skill: Entangling — binds targets with Blue Silver Grass; Youquan burned through it with fire. 63
  • Second Soul Skill: Parasite — regrows Blue Silver Grass around a target after the original bindings have been destroyed. 49
  • Blue Silver Thrust Array — a mutated version of his fourth Soul Skill that launched Star Luo Academy’s entire team into the air and briefly stunned them. 118

  • Dark crimson Blue Silver Grass — following his resurrection, his Martial Soul bound and drained divine power from the God of Food and the Nine-Colored Goddess. 278 282

Tang San retained techniques from the Tang Sect and relies heavily on concealed weapons.

  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — pulled Zhao Wuji off balance, creating an opening for Xiaowu’s attack. 49
  • Godly Zhuge Crossbow — fired at Youquan after she took the Man Faced Demon Spider’s Soul Bone. 90

  • First Form: Unfixed Wind Wave — creates golden rings that immobilize targets and can defend against incoming attacks. 255 258
  • Third Form: Gone Forever — a high-risk thrown attack using the Sea God Trident. 255

  • Dai Mubai, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, and Zhu Zhuqing — Shrek companions and later allies in the conflict against Spirit Hall. 47 242
  • Youquan — long-term enemy. Their hostility began at Shrek Academy and developed into mutual attempts to kill one another. 49 68 285
