"Su Yan, what do your parents do?" Lin Qiang asked in a rather envious tone, his eyes sweeping over Su Yan's clothes. He was dressed head to toe in Nike, and his sneakers looked especially cool. He thought Su Yan's family must be pretty well-off.

Su Yan answered casually, "I don't know. I live alone."

"Your parents work out of town?"

"They remarried. We don't keep in touch."

Lin Qiang nearly choked. He did not dare ask any more questions.

Two grown boys going to KFC together was fairly eye-catching, especially Su Yan. He almost instantly drew the attention of quite a few female students.

Su Yan pulled out his wallet and asked Lin Qiang, "Order whatever you want." As he took out money, he squeezed into the queue. It was Saturday, and KFC was packed.

Lin Qiang caught sight of several red bills in Su Yan's wallet. There was no need to worry that Su Yan could not afford the meal no matter how much he ordered. Lin Qiang chuckled and unceremoniously ordered a lot, including three burgers alone. When they sat down with their food, Lin Qiang said with satisfaction, "I'm going to eat my fill before going home. I won't need dinner tonight."

Su Yan shook his head. Too much KFC got sickening after a while; one burger was enough to put him off it. Su Yan slowly nibbled on fries while chatting with someone on his phone. Lin Qiang was no longer a chatterbox, turning into a glutton instead as he stuffed huge bites of burger into his mouth with great enjoyment. With puffed cheeks, Lin Qiang chewed with difficulty when he suddenly saw two familiar people walk in. Liang Kui was in front, and Chen Wanwan was behind him. The sight of those two together made Lin Qiang choke up. His eyes rolled back at once, and he coughed earth-shakingly while desperately pounding his chest with his right hand. Su Yan was startled and walked over to slap him on the back. Lin Qiang instantly cleared up, snatched the cola, and gulped it down.

Su Yan sighed. "Don't make such a huge fuss over eating. If there's news about a fifteen-year-old high school student choking to death on a burger, high school students across the country will be embarrassed."

Lin Qiang caught his breath and said with lingering fear, "I was scared. Su Yan, look who's over there."

Su Yan turned around and saw Liang Kui and Chen Wanwan.

Lin Qiang lowered his voice. "Chen Wanwan is actually dating Liang Kui? I thought she had no plans to get a boyfriend. Before, she looked at any boy who came near her like she was looking at snot. She was ridiculously aloof. That Liang Kui looks like an unreliable playboy."

Su Yan withdrew his gaze and continued eating fries, ignoring Lin Qiang.

After buying their food, Liang Kui gently led Chen Wanwan around in search of an empty seat. After making a full circle without finding an empty table, he spotted Su Yan and Lin Qiang instead. Their table happened to have two vacant seats.

"Hey, you guys came to KFC too? What a coincidence," Lin Qiang greeted them first.

Liang Kui carried his tray over, deciding he might as well sit there.

Chen Wanwan frowned and hesitated for a moment. Seeing that there really were no seats nearby, she could only reluctantly follow him.

"I didn't expect you two to be so close," Liang Kui said to Lin Qiang, glancing sideways at Su Yan.

Lin Qiang smiled. "Su Yan's pretty easy to get along with. He just doesn't like talking much."

Liang Kui rolled his eyes, then thoughtfully tore open a packet of ketchup for Chen Wanwan and handed her a napkin.

"Thank you." Chen Wanwan was very well-mannered. Her movements were refined and elegant as her pale fingers picked up fries and ate them bit by bit, making delicate Lin Qiang's eyes hurt.

Liang Kui enjoyed the sight very much. Beautiful women had a special charm when they ate, and this was exactly what he liked.

"Chen Wanwan, you should be careful. Keep your relationship low-key and don't let the homeroom teacher find out," Lin Qiang kindly reminded her. He was the class monitor, while Chen Wanwan was the vice monitor. Both had been chosen by the homeroom teacher. If the teacher found out Chen Wanwan was dating early, she would definitely be disappointed.

Chen Wanwan paused with a fry between her teeth. Her expression turned cold, and she said flatly, "Don't spread rumors. Liang Kui and I are just classmates. There's absolutely no such thing as dating early. I merely owed him a favor and treated him to KFC." After speaking, Chen Wanwan watched Liang Kui's reaction from the corner of her eye. Liang Kui was rather unhappy to hear that. He had made things obvious enough, so how had it turned into something else when it came out of Chen Wanwan's mouth? Besides, treating him to KFC was only an excuse. How could he let a beauty pay? He was the one paying.

Lin Qiang froze, then realized. "So that's how it is. Then it's just like Su Yan and me, haha. Su Yan owed me a favor, so I'm making him treat me to KFC."

Lin Qiang's words made Chen Wanwan's expression turn even uglier. She lightly gritted her teeth, annoyed by Liang Kui's silence. She liked Liang Kui, and Liang Kui clearly liked her too. Why would he not make things clearer? If he would not say it first, how could she, as a girl, possibly be bold enough to say it?

After remaining silent for a long time, Su Yan gave a soft laugh and interrupted Lin Qiang. "Class monitor, don't meddle blindly. The vice monitor is smart and pretty. So many boys are after her. Look at Liang Kui, that idiot is drooling over a beauty. Just grinning foolishly and eating won't do anything. When chasing a girl, the guy has to confess first. If he doesn't confess, how can the girl be comfortable acknowledging the relationship? Not every guy is lucky enough to meet a girl who confesses first."

Lin Qiang was suddenly enlightened and slapped his thigh. "So that's how it is. After all that, Su Yan, you were praising yourself? Wan Fang took the initiative to confess to you, so why aren't you proactive at all?"

Su Yan spread his hands. "She has the right to confess, and I have the right to refuse. I'm not interested in dating early."

The two of them began chatting about confessions. Over there, Liang Kui was enlightened by Su Yan's words. So the whole problem was that one decisive step was missing. Liang Kui could not help looking at Chen Wanwan. He was handsome, had good grades, and came from a good family. He had dated several times in middle school. But he had never actually confessed. If he liked a girl, he would simply ask her out for meals and movies, and that would be that. If they were already going around together under the moon and among the flowers, did that not count as confirming the relationship?
