Grand Cathedral of Light.
Pope Saint Willy Avery sat in a broad, magnificent chair, holy radiance shining upon him so brightly that everything within a one-meter radius vanished from sight.
Many archbishops of the Church of Light stood in an arc before Saint Willy Avery.
There was no one else.
Even ordinary bishops were unable to attend, showing just how high-level this meeting was.
"Ladies and gentlemen, everyone is here."
Saint Willy Avery swept his gaze around the room and spoke only after confirming that everyone had arrived. "Let us begin!"
His aged, hoarse voice echoed through the hall. Even though they could not see his body, they could sense his frailty.
Even so, not a single archbishop dared show the slightest disrespect.
The holy light shrouding him and the sacred aura constantly emanating from him reminded everyone that, though he was nearing the end of his life, he still possessed formidable power as pope.
The moment his voice fell, an archbishop rose to his feet. "Recently, a magical item called the Magic Net Ring has appeared in the royal capital. It allows information to be transmitted rapidly. Even someone in the Northlands can communicate with a holder in the royal capital."
"This is of great importance to spreading the doctrine of the Light God. We can use it to communicate with local churches scattered across the land."
As he said this, the archbishops in the meeting room all revealed delighted expressions.
If they could communicate rapidly with local churches, then they could certainly communicate swiftly with the Holy Knights Order and the Order of Penitential Friars as well. Its significance for missionary work was immense.
Yet the archbishop's next words left them stunned. "However, to use the Magic Net Ring, one must pray to the Magic Goddess and the Technology God in order to activate it. It is suspected to be an item bestowed by gods!"
"Your Holiness, we are believers of the Light God. How can we pray to other gods? Even if this so-called Magic Net Ring is of great importance to us, we absolutely cannot use it."
An archbishop wearing a golden crown and bearing a stern expression stood up, his tone resolute.
"The Magic Goddess is merely a symbolic deity, not a deity of strong faith. She has no formal religion, nor does she possess a faith system. I believe this does not conflict with our faith in the Light God. Using an item bestowed by her to expand the faith of the Light God would bring only benefits!"
The bishops voiced their opinions one after another. Most of them had sound reasons and logic behind them. Saint Willy Avery did not interrupt anyone, merely listening quietly until they had nearly finished speaking. Only then did he say, "Archbishop Wensi Franz, what is your opinion?"
Franz was the royal surname of the Dawn Kingdom.
The Church of Light's primary missionary territory lay within the Dawn Kingdom, so its status was naturally exceptional.
"Just moments ago, I heard the prayers of believers. A group of low-level spellcasters using Magic Net Rings entered a ruin and encountered a Wraith Puppet. They did not recognize this unusual spirit entity, so they sought help through the Magic Net Ring. After receiving reminders from their 'online friends,' they destroyed the Wraith Puppet and successfully obtained all the relics within the ruin."
In a gentle yet penetrating voice, Wensi Franz slowly told this seemingly unrelated story.
Only after finishing did she shift the subject. "We possess a vast amount of knowledge. Could we use the Magic Net Ring to offer aid to these spellcasters on the brink of death and persuade them to convert?"
Her voice seemed to possess a unique magic, as though it could echo within everyone's heart.
An archbishop immediately agreed. "People find faith most easily when they are in despair." "Our Lord will forgive us for praying to foreign gods in order to persuade more converts, especially extraordinary ones." "This truly is a good idea."
"The convenience of the Magic Net Ring will gather countless spellcasters within a false space. Knowledge will spread at its fastest within that space. We can completely display some of our god's power. Once those faithless spellcasters witness the knowledge our god possesses, how could they possibly remain unmoved? This kills two birds with one stone!"
In their eyes, this matter had instantly become something with countless benefits and no drawbacks.
"But what if our clergy use Magic Net Rings multiple times every day? As I understand it, every activation requires a prayer. Perhaps before long, our clergy will pray to the Magic Goddess and the Technology God far more often than they pray to our Lord!"
The golden-crowned archbishop could sense the direction of the meeting. How could he not realize that this pope had to be supporting it from behind the scenes?
Otherwise, it could never have gone so smoothly.
But how could believers of the Light God pray to other gods?
Yet he could not refute them.
It seemed the tide had already turned.
Left with no choice, he could only find a way to place a shackle upon it.
A shackle that the head of the Order of Penitential Friars could use!
"We can stipulate that clergy of different ranks may use it different numbers of times. Low-ranking clergy will find it difficult to resist the temptation of other gods, so they may use it at most once a day, at noon, when the power of light is at its most active."
Wensi Franz could not help frowning slightly. "If the number of times Magic Net Rings can be used is restricted, will that affect the spread of information? What if there is an emergency?"
"Private messages will not be restricted. If someone receives a private message alert, they may use it additionally, but they may not browse Magic Space." The archbishop spoke with a solemn expression.
The archbishops all expressed their approval of this brilliant proposal. Some even suggested amending the doctrine to establish the legitimacy of the rules.
A short while later, the archbishops' discussion came to an end.
After casually adding an anti-addiction measure to the Magic Net Ring, they prepared to promote it.
Pope Saint Willy Avery reached a conclusion. "Then it is settled. Archbishop Wensi Franz, you will be responsible for purchasing and distributing the Magic Net Rings."
"Now, let us discuss how our missionary work is progressing in various regions."
Everything had gone so smoothly.
As though it had all been rehearsed, the believers loyal to the Light God had finally made up their minds to begin promoting Magic Net Rings within the Church.
Even Roger had not expected that the churches of other gods would make such a choice, though he could understand it.
The rapid circulation of information was of paramount importance to any faction.
It could even determine their survival or destruction.
Still completely unaware of all this, Roger stared warily at the transparent crystal before him. "Doll, you're sure you won't use this for personal revenge and install a Mind Storm inside it, right?"
