People would believe that the Technology God had caused it all, leading to a massive drop in faith.
That was especially true when it involved every person's money.
It would be better to hand these matters directly to the dragons. If they succeeded and the era changed, the Technology God would be the mightiest god. If they failed, then the financial matters would be the dragons' problem.
As for whether the dragons would worry about bearing that responsibility?
Clearly, they would not.
