Unlike the Heavenly Pool, the Earth Pool absorbed Merit and turned it into pool water that could restore the Divine Soul. The Heavenly Pool shaped the body; the Earth Pool shaped the soul. But Jieyin found the Earth Pool, and it became a prized treasure of Buddhism. Fearing it would lose its power with repeated use, just like the Heavenly Pool, Buddhism strictly limited its use and continually poured collected Merit into it. In time, the Earth Pool came to be known as the Eight-Treasure Merit Pool.
Unlike the Heavenly and Earthly Pools, the Human Pool had yet to appear. But with the other two so wondrous, it could hardly be ordinary.
