Inside the command post of Horseshoe City, John watched the two assault brigades that had suddenly appeared in his field of vision, only to be bombarded under his temporary formation change and utterly wiped out beneath the advancing infantry-armor coordination. A hint of amusement flashed through his eyes.
In fact, from the moment he had ordered the independent artillery regiment to advance toward the E12 Ambush Point, he had already guessed that Frank had likely stationed ambushers nearby in advance.
Otherwise, based on his understanding of that general, Frank would never have easily allowed this heavy armored regiment, capable of deploying Void Spells against Explosive Magic, to withdraw. More likely, he would have let it continue advancing straight into the rear of the Empire's guerrilla forces, then spread the armored regiment into a line and coordinate with Allied Forces already engaging the Empire to encircle the guerrilla squads.
As the master of Alliance Strategy, Frank excelled at sending an elite force deep into enemy territory, then relying on that unit's mobility and offensive power to expand the effect across the front. This would force the enemy to move troops to contain it, only to fall into traps he had arranged beforehand, where pre-positioned ambushers could annihilate the enemy's main force.
Finally, he would join up with the rest of his own troops to encircle the remnants.
This style of warfare was extremely aggressive and depended heavily on the combat strength and mobility of elite units.
When used properly, and when one could predict the enemy commander's arrangements in advance, it was practically unbeatable.
