Confrontation, Shock

By the time Isabella and the others arrived in Revival City and delivered their calling card to the Governor's Office, it was already three in the afternoon.

Perhaps having received John's notice in advance, the guards at the entrance did not search the four of them after accepting the short, unsealed letter. They merely said, "Please wait," before turning around to report to the Governor's Office behind them.

The four waited beneath the steps outside the Governor's Office. After roughly three to five minutes, the guard returned and nodded at them. "The Governor invites you inside for a detailed discussion."

"Thank you."

Led by the guard, the four passed through the Governor's Office lobby and took the elevator all the way to the sixth floor.

Along the way, Amuro, who had never seen an elevator before, curiously peppered the guard with questions. Perhaps accustomed to such reactions, the guard was not surprised and simply explained how the elevator worked, as well as the specific energy source that powered it.

Upon learning that the elevator was powered by electricity rather than magic, Amuro could not help repeatedly praising the person who had designed it as an absolute genius. He said that when they met the Governor of Faoken later, he would have to ask for an introduction to this master so he could discuss knowledge related to technology with him.

The guard merely smiled without saying anything.

He could hardly tell this strange foreigner that the master who had proposed the theory of elevators had exited the biosphere more than two hundred years ago. If this man wanted to have a detailed discussion with that founding master, he would probably have to die first.

Under the guard's lead, the four soon arrived at a small conference room on the sixth floor.
