The beam atop the tower swept halfway through the fog.
Bai Zhu crouched on the tree canopy, glanced at the system map, then looked up at the Lighthouse again.
[Coastal Camp] [Giant Tree High Point] [Unknown Rift] [Watcher's House]
Four markers hung in the gray fog, but only the small patch beneath his feet was lit up.
Bai Zhu zoomed the map out, then back in, comparing it several times.
Coastal Camp was behind him.
The Lighthouse was on the other side of the forest.
Between them lay a vast expanse of black fog and a bottomless terrain fissure.
"Fine."
Bai Zhu closed the map and looked up at the beam again.
"This thing can rotate, which means it isn't naturally glowing."
"If it rotates this regularly, someone is probably controlling it."
"Of course, it could also be some monster that takes shifts."
He crouched there and waited for two minutes.
The beam atop the tower swept around again.
The interval was about the same.
Bai Zhu held out his fingers and did some calculations. The more he calculated, the less confident he felt.
"Signs of civilization."
"There might be living people."
"There might be clues about my teammates. If I'm lucky, they could be there."
"Of course, it could also be a slaughterhouse outside the beginner village."
He glanced down beneath the tree.
Those residents from earlier seemed to be keeping quiet and unwilling to leave their nests. That already counted as the best news of the day.
He was about to head straight toward the Lighthouse, but Bai Zhu hesitated again.
Everything in this place was wrong.
He was alone, without teammates, logistics, the young master cursing at him, Morel to cover his back, or even Dashing Bro's designated driver service.
