Bai Zhu set Milluki down from his back, picked up a piece of rubble, and threw it toward the Lighthouse entrance.
Smack.
The pebble hit the ground and rolled through the gap beneath the door.
Nothing moved inside.
The stench of decay surged out through the doorway, and Milluki immediately pulled out a used filter pad and pressed it over his nose.
"Got any extras?"
Bai Zhu glanced at him.
Milluki rummaged through his bag and handed him one.
"Don't ruin it. It's expensive."
"Master, when did you become so stingy?"
"You're worth hundreds of billions now. You have to be stingier than me."
Bai Zhu put on the filter pad and approached with his sword in hand.
The door stood half-open, and the inside was completely empty.
That was the troublesome part.
Bai Zhu lowered his voice.
"Those things outside chased you like debt collectors, but the Lighthouse entrance is clean. Something's definitely wrong."
Milluki nodded, switched his terminal to silent mode, and sent several Mechanical Spiders crawling into the Lighthouse.
The two entered the first floor.
Tables and chairs lay overturned in the hall, cabinets had been smashed open, and the walls were covered in blackened bloodstains.
There were drag marks, scratch marks, and shattered bones on the floor.
Several gnawed leg bones lay in a corner.
Milluki crouched down and scanned the area, his expression darkening.
"A lot of people died here."
"Yeah."
Bai Zhu used the tip of his sword to move aside a broken piece of wood.
"If the monsters outside had forced their way in, the door wouldn't be this intact. The tables were used to barricade the door from the inside, then dismantled later. Some of the scratch marks were from human fingernails, and some were from monster claws."
Milluki looked up.
"Infighting?"
