"We're done for, we're done for! It's too dangerous out there. I want to go home!"
Milluki retreated deeper into the tree hollow in terror, tears of humiliation slipping from the corners of his eyes as the column of water at the lake's center suddenly exploded.
The spray shot up and crashed into the tree trunks from a thousand meters away.
The water membrane at the entrance of the hollow bulged under the impact. Gela Jiang pressed both hands against the wall, wrapping his Nen into a ring of water and pushing outward, barely keeping the water from flooding in.
Milluki clutched his terminal and curled up at the very back.
"How did it suddenly get here?"
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"
Bai Zhu lowered his voice, one hand already resting on his sword hilt. "I'm only responsible for cutting things. I don't handle after-sales service."
Gela Jiang turned and glared at him.
Bai Zhu immediately shut up.
Outside, the misty rain fell like a downpour.
Huge swaths of hanging plants were flipped and battered by the water. Some glowing moss was swept away, only for fresh points of light to slowly grow back seconds later. The half-collapsed buildings around the underground lake were shoved by the waves. Rubble piled on the stone steps rolled into the lake, producing a string of dull thuds.
Every dull thud made Milluki's face turn a shade paler.
"Stop making noise, stop making noise..."
"Are you chanting?"
"I'm praying their ears are bad."
Bai Zhu glanced at him.
"Young master, this place is full of deaf things that can still hear music."
Milluki nearly smashed the terminal into his face, but remembering that this was already a backup, he listlessly lowered it again.
The column of water finally collapsed.
