This Landlord Is Suspicious

Bai Zhu shouted, and the room next door opened a crack.

Someone poked their head out for a look.

Ging raised a hand in greeting.

"Morning."

The person saw the door on the floor, then saw Bai Zhu being held by the back of his collar, and silently shut the door again.

"Ging Freecss, I'm warning you. I'm under contract now. I'm not selling myself, I'm not being your sparring partner, and I'm not working overtime for free."

Ging shoved him into the bathroom.

"You call the shots. Clean up first, then we'll handle the real business."

Bai Zhu had just picked up his toothbrush when he paused.

"You really ought to make yourself clearer when you talk."

Ging leaned against the doorway, holding a stack of documents.

"The cost of the door will come out of the mission budget."

Bai Zhu spat out the toothpaste foam at once.

"Did the Freecss family and the Zoldyck family study under the same accountant?"

Ging froze for half a beat.

"The Zoldycks calculate things like that too?"

"They're worse." Bai Zhu cursed as he brushed his teeth. "They could turn breathing into a billable service."

"Then I'm pretty mild."

"Pay for the door first, then talk about being mild."

Ging glanced at the door panel lying against the wall.

"I knocked first."

"You call that knocking? That was a funeral send-off for the door."

While Bai Zhu washed his face, Ging placed the documents on the table outside.
