| Affiliation | Hunter Association; aligned with Chairman Netero's faction alongside Botobai, Cheadle, and other senior members 246 |
| Occupation/Role | Hunter; Bai Zhu's employer and a field leader during the Mingbo Oasis, Black Tower, and Caspian Sea investigations 171 174 |
| Status | Active 308 |
| First Appearance | Chapter 171 |
Personality
Ging is relaxed, teasing, and difficult to intimidate, even when dealing with supernatural hazards. He acknowledges fear but insists that fear does not excuse avoiding a problem, pushing Bai Zhu to confront the consequences of his unpaid “rent” rather than hide from them 173.
He is also manipulative in practical, bureaucratic ways. He binds Bai Zhu to the Mingbo commission through temporary Association clearance, hotel registration, and prepaid expenses, then physically removes him from the hotel when Bai Zhu tries to withdraw 171. His casual manner conceals sharp strategic judgment: he studies opponents before acting, downplays his own capabilities, and favors useful restraint over unnecessary killing 213 219.
Despite frequent insults and threats to abandon Bai Zhu, Ging repeatedly protects him in battle. He treats cooperation as a practical necessity, but his actions during the Hecatos battle reveal strong loyalty to his partner 299 301.
Abilities & Skills
Nen Analysis and Reconstruction
Ging can observe the principles behind Nen techniques and rebuild them into methods suited to his own habits rather than copying them exactly.
- Analyzes aura flow, physical exertion, ability construction, visual focus, marker resonance, and spatial calibration 213 251.
- Can identify deceptive aspects of abilities, such as misleading restrictions, tools, or Nen-category assumptions 251.
- Rapidly reproduced the shadow user's movement method after seeing it once, then used it against the Mirror Man 200.
- Learned how to interfere with Gait's teleportation calibration and later altered Gait's landing points 218 219.
- Cannot easily reconstruct powers based on personal experience, severe restrictions, innate physical conditions, or Specialist traits; Bai Zhu's non-Nen techniques remain opaque to him 251.
Spatial Movement
Ging uses long-range spatial movement that can carry another person over extreme distances.
- Transported himself and Bai Zhu across the ocean through successive enormous jumps 246.
- Escaped the sea entity with Milluki and Gela Jiang by relocating them to an uninhabited reef island 269.
- Avoided teleporting directly to Hecatos's altar once the creature began memorizing his movement method 300.
Combat Adaptation
Ging is an exceptionally versatile close-quarters fighter who changes methods before an opponent can fully understand his Nen flow.
- Fought an Enhancement-type attacker directly, slipping inside his guard and countering with a short-range Nen blast, a stone kick, and an elbow strike 195.
- Uses techniques including wind pressure, ricocheting Nen bullets, Mountain-Piercing Fist, Wave Fist, freezing attacks, and sealing rings 299 300 301.
- Determined that Hecatos required three observations to imitate an ability: appearance, function, then execution 299.
- Exploited this limit by using each technique no more than twice, or by changing the internal Nen route of outwardly identical attacks 300.
- Deliberately fed Hecatos three differently routed Wave Fists, causing its copied Nen flows to collide and break its wing 300.
Guanyin-like Nen Construct
Ging can manifest a giant golden Guanyin-like construct for direct combat.
- Used the construct's palms to crush Hecatos's crow manifestations and force their remains into the sealing grooves 301.
- States that he only created its “frame” and that its power is far below Netero's 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva 301.
- Hecatos later imitated the construct as the Black Crow Guanyin, combining it with stolen mirror, shadow, and corrosive Nen techniques 301.
Equipment
- Sealing metal rings — Used to restrain Hecatos, redirect its attacks through the city’s locks, and connect Bai Zhu to the inner city’s external energy supply 299 300 306.
- Survey case and sealing ring — Carried through a maintenance route when entering Hecatos's inner city 298.
Relationships
- Bai Zhu — Employer, reluctant partner, and frequent target of Ging's teasing. Ging coerces Bai Zhu into the Mingbo commission, trains and advises him, then repeatedly protects him against Hecatos 171 249 299.
- Isaac Netero — Trusted associate and political ally. Ging maintains a private line to the Hunter Association Chairman and openly respects Netero's overwhelming strength 246.
- Milluki Zoldyck — Technical ally whose equipment and analysis support Ging's expeditions. They argue over damaged machinery and dangerous field decisions but cooperate against the sea entity and golden particles 269 271.
- Razor — Combat ally during the Mingbo and Black Tower operations. Ging coordinates with Razor and his Fourteen Devils during the Specialist Association battle 174 219.
- Gela Jiang — Expedition partner during the Caspian Sea investigation. Ging relies on his Water Control while investigating the sea entity and treats his particle-infested wound in the field 269 270.
- Pariston — Political rival leading an opposing Hunter Association faction through personal influence and patronage 246.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Mingbo Oasis Commission
Ging contacts Bai Zhu as his employer and prevents him from abandoning the assignment by invoking Association fees and advance-payment rules. He then forcibly takes Bai Zhu to investigate the Mingbo Oasis anomaly with Satotz, Razor, List, Dwun, and Piyu 171 174.
At the oasis, Ging identifies black roots beneath the sand and concludes that the oasis is alive. He orders a retreat when it expands and refuses rescue attempts that would create further casualties 182.
Black Tower and Specialist Association Conflict
Inside the Black Tower, Ging studies the Specialist Association's teleportation system, identifies its reliance on markers and calibration, and develops a counterattack around disrupting those conditions 213. He interferes with Gait's teleportation at the critical instant, allowing Bai Zhu's White Lightning to break the enemy's formation 218 219.
After the battle, Ging prevents Bai Zhu from executing Hua Qiulang, arguing that the captured Hunters should be kept alive until the forces behind them—particularly Pariston—can be investigated 219.
Caspian Sea Investigation
Ging follows leads connecting Kakin to contaminated samples, Nen Beast embryo cultivation, and royal bloodline research 251. During a maritime investigation, he recognizes that the black sea entity is studying the group's abilities rather than simply trying to kill them 269.
He later helps establish that the golden particles attached to himself, Milluki, and Gela Jiang record Nen activation patterns and may enable future enemies to imitate their techniques 271.
Battle Against Hecatos
Ging enters Hecatos's inner city through a maintenance route and saves Bai Zhu from a lethal Shadow Fist at the last moment 298 299. He becomes the frontline fighter while Bai Zhu analyzes the city's forty-eight-lock sealing system, using varied Nen routes to keep Hecatos from successfully copying him 299 300 301.
Even after suffering a corrosive shoulder injury, Ging continues drawing Hecatos away from Bai Zhu and later improvises an energy-transfer connection that restores Bai Zhu's Reiatsu for the final attack 301 306. After Hecatos is resealed, he joins Bai Zhu in planning the harbor's cleanup and containment work 307.
Notable Quotes
“The same ability, I only use twice.” 300
“Even if you're afraid, you still have to see things clearly. Standing around while they hound you won't solve anything.” 173
